Smakky: The device works. That's not a question. Just know it doesn't take normal batteries. So unless you have 5 LR44 batteries laying around, have fun ordering them and being angry they cost nearly as much as the dwvice.

Tom McGee: Last December the ground shifted causing a pipe in the concrete of our home to change angle and backflow and leak under our laminate floors. Luckily our insurance paid for the majority of the 20,000 plus dollar repairs.

Not long after that I was washing dishes in the sink and after I felt water on my socks, I discovered that the U-neck PVC pipe under the sink was not attached. I immediately place a dozen or so towels over all of the areas that were wet and ran a fan over the area while I reconnected the pipe..

Panic set in and I quickly ordered this product and a dehumidifier. This product came quickly, but was not really the right tool for my product. While I am still waiting for the dehumidifier, I am pretty sure that the concrete under the aminate floors is dry.

This product is more suited to pierce wood, concrete and like building materials to see if they are dry. I did not want to punch holes into my new laminate to see if they were wet.

Never the less, this is a quality product that I may have the opportunity to use in the future.

mitchellmitchell: This Sam-Pro Dual Moister Meter is a really fun tool to have in the shop. The meter works very well, easy to use, and comes with a nice pouch to store it in. I have not had any issues with it. After reading thought the instruction booklet I was good to go! Off and testing. I have used it on mostly on hard woods. I find most all the lumber in my shop is relatively the same on a given day. which makes sense if you think about wood that's being stored. I have even checked one day old maple and oak that was cut. Most of the pressure treated wood I buy is always wet. I have to let it dry out and shrink for my type of use. Now I can easily check it. The replaceable electrode pins are very sharp, as any good tool should be. Makes it easy to push in! Understanding and knowing the moister of the material in which you are working with is important. For me that is mostly hard wood lumber, treated lumber, fire wood, and blanks for turning. I would defiantly recommend this product to a friend. The great price point and functionality make it hard to pass up. Also the auto power off after a couple minutes is really a handy feature.

Koehler FamilyKoehler Family: Got it today and put it to use immediately. Yesterday I bought a bunch of air dried ash lumber that I want to use soon for a project. So I of course couldn't wait to rip open the package and try it out. I popped in the included 9v battery and popped the cover off and adjusted the settings then tested my lumber. It was so easy to use and I like the optional settings for scan/max/min readings. The back few pages of the manual let you know which mode to use based on the type of material that you're testing. I know some reviewers said that they couldn't get the cap off. The version I have has instructions on the cap letting you know to push it off in a certain direction and not to pull it off. I for one am glad that the lid is nice and snug so that I don't need to worry about it falling off and damaging the sensors. To further avoid damage to the unit, it comes with a case which is a nice touch.

Jerry: Received meter. Occasionally will momentarily blink a reading in known moist wood, then freezes on 0.0% It works on my hand, then freezes that high reading as Max and cannot clear it, no mater what you do..i.e. back to scan, on/off, etc. Never does lock/hold a Min reading???? Have experimented on multiple materials, might blink a momentary reading then back to 0.0%...Instructions not clear on how Max/Min function really works and how to clear the readings in memory...Sent issue to Sam-Pro, no response as yet...think I got a defective meter...
Needed meter to test new hardwood flooring and subfloor before installation. Guess that's not going to happen unless they next-day ship one to me!

After posting it, I was contacted by Sam-Pro the same day (Sunday no-less!!!) After a few exchange emails, it was determined that I probably did get a defective meter. A new meter was immediately sent to me...No hassle!!!
After experimenting with the new meter and getting specific questions answered by Sam-Pro, I am very happy with the product!
What impressed me the most was the OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! Fast responses,...
