They were just bad. A muddy, woody flavor That would only be good if they were chopped up in small chunks and added to soups or stews judiciously. I love fresh chanterelles above all types of mushrooms, including morels and other flavorful types. I have tried rehydrating Dried ones, to no avail. I was hoping that these canned ones would be much closer to fresh, but they were a huge a disappointment. Don’t waste your money.

These chanterelles are wonderful. They have amazing meaty flavor. Goes great with fried potatoes. They are pricey but chanterelles are expensive. For the people who expected dry mushrooms, the picture of the can is right in the description and the description says can. They are way better then dried which are a pain to rehydrate and get the grit out. For a special occasion, can’t go wrong with these.

As good as they get in a can! Full of that very particular chanterelle umami flavor.
Make sure to read cooking instructions! Either dry them with paper towels or in the oven, but you have to remove excess liquids before sauteeing OR else face major fireworks in the kitchen ;) Water and oil/butter are NOT friends.

I'm so happy I found these! I'm from Sweden living in the US. Chanterelles are huge in my home country. I made a pie for a Swedish party. It was very appreciated. These chanterelles are good quality and taste almost like the ones I pick back home. So happy I found these!
