Alain Gagne: Replacement on a lot of gas range
Canada on Jun 06, 2023
Warden of the North: Gas igniter on our Whirlpool Double range went a week before Christmas. The part was fairly easy to access, but the OEM part from Whirlpool was listed for $160…checked the reviews on this and it seemed to be a solid replacement option. Rather than deal with the ceramic wire nuts and twist connection, I used some male/female space connectors. Much easier to fit these through the hole in the back of the oven, and less worry about them coming apart. Our particular oven needed a bit more disassembly on the back to access the connections, but that's no fault of the part supplier. Took me maybe 45 minutes to an hour and we were back up and running. The igniter emits a bit of a funky smell when it's breaking in, so we heated the oven up a few times and let it cook off. One last comment on installation, just check your original igniter to make sure the replacement has adequate clearance. My OEM didn't have a bottom mounting tab, only the top, so I ended up having to bend the bottom tab back in order for it to fit properly. At this price I'll probably grab a spare just in case.

Amazon Customer: This igniter did the trick to get my bottom oven working again on my maytag double oven. Infact I think my bottom heats up quicker than my top oven now. The connector isn't the same as the old one. So I cut off the original ingniter connector and used the porcelain berets that came with this part to make it work.

Barnacle: Works so far. Made in USA.
The part I received was not in the red and white RobertShaw package nor did the part numbers correspond to the RobertShaw part number. The received package was in a generic brown box with generic label "FLAT IGNITER" with some other part numbers. The igniter itself was well packed for shipment, and looked identical to the pictures other than packaging. The original package label was partially covered with a second label, possible to give it a different bar code and description. I removed this second label revealing that the part was indeed "Made in the U.S.A.
The actual part has a silver label on the wires, that says Eaton 4100. The part I was replacing was labeled type Norton 501. One eBay seller claims these are compatible. I swapped out the heating element from this part to my old metal holder in order to adapt it to my Amana range. The New ignitor works in my stove which has a RobertShaw gas valve that requires 3.5 amps of current to start. That spec is similar to the description given above for this part. So far I am a happy camper. Two stars removed for lack of RobertShaw branding. One star restored for made in the USA. Total 4 stars.

Wasabi: It has been working fine for 2 days. It came in a Robertshaw box. I was happy that the Robertshaw company was Illinois based, so I was supporting business in my state. I ordered a igniter with the connector to not have to deal with splicing wires. However i had to any way as the plastic part of the connector is male, but the metal prongs inside are female. The Amana stove i have has the same plastic connector but male prongs in the ignitor side of the connector... so this subtle point (which the picture of the product actually displays) made the connector usable. Luckily they company includes the two ceramic were nuts, so i just placed the wires to the old connector. So triple check how the connector should look, including the prongs inside. Also don't throw away the metal enclosure around the old ignitor, mine was different so I had to swap it onto the new igniter. The wires were indeed 12 inches. Well boxed in foam.
UPDATE 2.5 years later:
So this item lasted 2.5 years. I repurchased it and reinstalled, in the manner described above. It was packaged and branded the same was as the old one. The old one did not have any cracks in the element, but the resistance went to 5...
