This Rick Steves guide has the details and suggestions for a stay that illuminate Iceland's history and culture, as well as the opportunity to stay up all night in the sunlight.

This guide is focused tightly on Reykjavik and nearby areas. Those wishing to explore the remoter portions of Iceland, with their mountains, glaciers and dry valleys, can find other guides. The author offers a variety of choices for touristing, shopping, eating, and sleeping. Several walking tours of Reykjavik are laid out in some detail, accompanied by sketch maps and some nice color and black & white photography. As with other Rick Steves guides, read the whole book before committing money and time. Well recommended.

Kathryn Johnson: We just got back last night from a Christmas trip to Iceland. This book was very helpful to see Reykjavik and nearby tours. The flea market and the Golden triangle tour in the snow were our fav things. And the food!!! There is no bad food in Iceland!! Eat the hotdogs at the stand next to the Konsulat Hilton. And stay there if you can!! What a wonderful week!! Thanks Rick Steves for a great book!!
