Derek Swanson: This product works very well. No leaks and the retracting mechanism has plenty of power. The only drawback I found was mounting the reel. With the hose already installed it was difficult to use a power tool to set the lag bolts into my garage wall. If the mounting bracket was wider than the reel that would greatly aid installation.

Farmer John: I read the reviews before I bought this and have had it mounted in my shop several days now. On the high side, mine did come with the short connection hose to hook up to the compressor, some reviews said it did not. However, neither end of the hose had the appropriate fitting that you can tighten without spinning everything attached, so I could not hook it up to the external valve on my compressor. I had to use a few connections I had in stock to make it work. Another high side is it is pretty, looks great on the wall. However, you need a mule train to pull the hose out past about 1/3rd of the way. It pulled out really heavy. Also, this is not 50 feet as suggested. There is a warning not to pass a marker near the end of the hose, or it will break the return, so you loose about 3 feet of length. Hose quality looks great, very nice and pleasant to use. I have used it lightly for a week now, and I have noticed the hose does not retract all the way anymore. It is hanging about 2 feet from fully recoiling to the chuck. I am not sure why that is taking place but it is annoying. My old hand crank hose cradle is not going anywhere fast, It still hanging where it was. If I have to pull out...

Brian H: I liked the quality of the hose and the reel. Like some of the reviews pointed out, the mounting plate requires pulling all the hose off to use lag bolts. They included expandable concrete bolts which wouldn't require pulling the hose of to mount but I used 6" lag bolts into a wood column. If there were mounting flanges on the outside instead of only on the inside it would have been easier but wasn't that big of a problem. I wish it had double support arms because when you pull the hose it doesn't feel very secure. I added a brace on the air hose feeder side to make it more rigid. Also, would be better to have four hose alignment rollers rather than two but for the price, I'm happy!

Grandpa NateGrandpa Nate: The reel and hose is reasonable quality - certainly good enough for home use. Being a mechanical engineer, i am unable to trust the mounting bolts they supply. Very poor instructions for mounting. But it is easy to make a sub-plate and use standard hardware to customize to your situation. I mounted mine under a work bench next to my small compressor (see photos.)

Read in another review about the odd connection type between the reel hose and supply line. I figured if I wear out the hose to that point, it's probably cost-effective and time-effective to simply replace the entire reel. I'll worry about that later ... hopefully more than 10 years away.

The two side roller guides would definitely benefit from two additional rollers so the hose is guided no matter which direction the hose is pulled. For me, I just extract the amount of hose I need standing in front of it, then I move to point of use.

The retract spring is nicely strong.

I think it is reasonable to expect more than 10 years of moderate home use.
