Claude Findley: This is a great hose reel. Very well designed and fabricated.
The return spring is quite strong.
The ratchet stop that keeps the hose from reeling back in takes a minute to figure out because it is an intermittent ratchet stop. You have to listen for the ratchet when you are pulling the hose out and stop pulling after the first clicks so that the ratchet engages. Otherwise, you will pull the reel past the ratchet stop and the hose then reels back in (a great design, since you can always get the hose to reel back when you want it to).

Gzus14u: This reel is a great value! It is very heavy duty and works perfectly. All steel construction, no plastic. The recoil on the hose is super strong! It pulls the hose back in with no lag at all. I am very happy with this item. One tip...It is surprisingly heavy, so it must be mounted well, and I've found it's best to lighten the weight during installation by pulling the hose out of the reel to make it easier to mount. No complaints on this item, very happy.

Given that the air line being replaced is almost 40 years old and being replaced only for essentially cosmetic reasons, I would like to think this air line will last at least as long, given that it is reeled out of the way when not in use.
