Replacement 12V 8AH Battery for GT12080-HG FiOS Systems (ML8-12)

APLwonk: I replaced this batter today, 4/4/22. The battery I bought from Amazon on 8/21 died in less than one (1) year! Do these batteries have a warranty on them? Please advise. The first battery I replaced lasted for more than 5 years so I am, understandably, a bit upset.

Jim Palmer: Purchased battery in October and 3 different times I have gotten a low battery alarm. Since I am unable to return the battery I am stuck for the purchase. This was my original impression, but I sent an email describing my problem and the customer service dept worked very hard to resolve the issue even though they did not have to. Borrowed a backup battery from a friend who has the same backup system that I have. His worked for 2 weeks with no problem on my system and mine worked on his system. Swapped them back and mine failed once again. Tried reinstalling the backup battery and it has worked ever since. Called customer service and they said if there is any problem within a reasonable amount of time to call and they would be happy to replace the battery.

D. Harrison: This fit perfectly into the FIOS control box and was recognized immediately. I followed the instructions on the FIOS website and unplugged the box before I swapped batteries and did not have to anything for it to come up. The FIOS battery lasted about 3 years and is a user-replaceable item. I suppose if you want to pay a lot, you can get a Verizon tech to come to yout house and replace the battery, but I suspect it would cost a lot more than the under $20 this battery costs. It took about 5 minutes to change the battery, double-checking myself the whole way through. Next time will probably take 2-3 minutes. The power terminals are a little shorter than the original, but are in the same positions and the power connectors fit on them properly. If you are capable of undoing a piece of Velcro, holding a 3-4 pound battery, slipping connectors terminals off, then slipping the terminals on the new battery following the red/black color codes, you can do this yourself.

Random shopper: This did the job of quieting my Verizon FIOS battery backup, which was squawking every 24 hours or more often for a fresh battery. Much more reasonably priced than buying directly from FIOS. Easy to install. It's only been in for a few weeks, though, so verdict is still out on how long it lasts.

***11.5 months after install*** Battery beeping is back and I'll have to replace this battery. It's within 1 yr warranty, but warranty info is NOT available online and fighting with the manufacturer will cost me more in time and sanity (beeping in the background) than new battery. Unfortunate, but reality. Will buy another and will hunt out warranty information at the beginning so that when new one goes down within year, I'm ready for the battle.

RB: It works great, but I've only had it for a month. If it stops working at any time, I'll update the review. I bought this instead of Fios' $50 replacement battery. This was a great price ($18.49) with no shipping charges. I ordered it on Saturday and received it on Wednesday. Oops, maybe I'm leaving too much of a seller review here. Oh well, I'm leaving it. It shall be known!

UPDATE: The red "replace battery" light is lit on the Fios BBU. This battery didn't even last four months.

UPDATE: Upon closer inspection, one of the cable attachments on the battery had come loose. I actually needed to cut off the casing around the metal attachment, and then use vise-grips to keep metal touching metal. But once I did that, the battery was absolutely fine. No longer is the "replace battery" light on. So I'm now changing my review again and giving it four stars. For me it wasn't that hard to fix, so I only took away one star. I'm writing this on 9/4/16, right about four months after installing it. I'll update again, if necessary.
