So it's a little brutal if you think about how this tennis racquet looking thing actually kills mosquitoes... but that's besides the point. It works! We used when we are on our tennis courts as it seems most of the skeetos hang out over there. You basically make sure it is fully charged (uses a micro usb), switch it on (bottom right of the handle) and then press the button the side as you swat away. You will hear mini firecracker sounds as it zaps the mosquitoes! You can get a lot of zaps out of one charge and charging is fast and easy (really glad I don't have to use batteries). Our kids love using it too! Try it but just be careful you don't zap bees!

Kaenan Greene: It makes a loud CRACK whet you get flies with it, but if you have beefcake flies like I do it may take a couple lightning bolts to execute the death penalty.

PES: This ZAP iT bug zapper is great!! I have a bug zapper that takes 2 AA batteries that pretty much did the trick. Surprisingly, I was at a Chinese restaurant, and heard a loud popping sound. I then realized that the owner had a bug zapper, and was killing flies by the register. I could not believe how loud the snapping sound was, and it was kind of funny that she was doing this right in the restaurant. I asked her if I could see it, so I could see the brand of it. She then explained to me that it was just called ZAP iT, and it just has a USB cord to charge it. Mine does not have 3 layers of mesh but two. You could touch it, and nothing would happen. ZAP iT has three layers of mesh, and supposedly, the inner one could give you an electrical current. I wanted to find out for myself but my fingers are too big so I had to use my pinky finger to touch the inner mesh. My friends, it will SEND YOU AN ELECTRICAL CURRENT! I do electrical work, and have been zapped many times over the years. Make sure that you do not leave this zapper around children. The electrical current can NEVER kill you but you will definitely feel it. I figured that I would touch it because I really never read any...

Tricia: This works well...when you can catch them. I think they can hear when you push the button. The bugs seem to somehow disappear as soon as you get the racket ready. When you do get them, you know. It makes a good zap and depending on the amount of contact, can create quite a smell. My dogs are not a fan of the noise or the smell. I almost wish I would have purchased the smaller one too as there are situations in which the medium one is just too awkward to move around the way I need to. One think to note, it did look a little cheap or almost used when I opened it. I questioned whether to return it or not, but it was fine - it kills bugs, how pretty does it need to be.

Terri Schlosser: I had an older model that required 2 D size batteries and that’s how I knew got good zaps, but I could not find a replacement.
Took a chance on this and so far I’m impressed.
Much lighter to swing around. My only complaint would be that it does not have a hook on bottom of handle to allow to hang.
I would recommend this product.

Bob: I had a fruit fly infestation so I used traps which helped a lot, but fruit flies still swarmed my kitchen! So I bought this and it helped even more. The only issue is fruit flies frequently pass through the zapping net, probably 1/4th of the time its a miss.

CD3: Product worked great for several months. However after ~60 wasp kills, the activation button began to fail. While holding the button, the power indicator light would flicker. You can slide your finger around on the button and sometimes that would help, but not always. When battling wasps, "sometimes" isn't good enough. I saw another reviewer mention the use of a toothpick under the activation button to provide consistent power. Sure enough, took the handle apart, the back side of the activation button has a hole that fits a toothpick perfectly. Trimmed one up and stuck it in, since then the swatter has been cooking up wasps without issues.
