This powerful tool packs a punch of 4,000 volts and comes with a USB charging cable. It's the best bug zapper out there when it comes to build quality, customer support, design, and durability. Get rid of those bugs for good with the ZAP IT! Bug Zapper!CD3: Product worked great for several months. However after ~60 wasp kills, the activation button began to fail. While holding the button, the power indicator light would flicker. You can slide your finger around on the button and sometimes that would help, but not always. When battling wasps, "sometimes" isn't good enough. I saw another reviewer mention the use of a toothpick under the activation button to provide consistent power. Sure enough, took the handle apart, the back side of the activation button has a hole that fits a toothpick perfectly. Trimmed one up and stuck it in, since then the swatter has been cooking up wasps without issues.

shoppyshop:
This product failed prematurely. I have another one - different brand, purchased before this one, and it is still going strong. This one didn't even last six months, and it was not used all winter.
Update: The seller contacted me and offered to correct the issue. Excellent service from the seller! As a result I changed the rating.

I spend a fair amount of time nude on my back porch and if there’s one thing naturists like me hate, it’s bugs. Generally, I live and let live, but biting and disease-spreading insects must go. Self-preservation comes first, after all. To that point, I think this is a brilliant alternative to bug zappers that indiscriminately kill useful insects and rarely kill true pests like mosquitoes. And I refuse to kill useful pollinators like bees unless they were Africanized and actively attacking me.
Originally, I planned to buy a salt gun, but then I ran across this and thought it might be more effective. At half the price of such gun and without the need for “ammunition”, I decided to go for it. So far, I have been pleasantly surprised by its performance and by the slightly sadistic bonus of sparks, smoke, and a burning hair smell.
One negative reviewer stated that a fly was able to walk around unharmed on the device after they had set it on their desk. Obviously, it will not do anything until it is switched on and the trigger is depressed. My experience so far with fast-moving insects like flies is they are tricky to eliminate.

Jim:
I've purchased four zapper rackets from Amazon so far:
Elucto 2-wire / 2xAA battery / 3200~3500 volts
Black Flag 3-layer / 2xAA battery / 2750 volts
Lanpuly 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 volts
ZapIt ! 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 volts
The Rechargeable Zap It! is by far the best, due to the grid design and higher voltage. Here's what I've learned so far:
3-layer is better than 2-wire
Examples of 2-wire, single-layer designs include Executioner and Elucto. To be zapped, the bug must touch 2 wires. It works well for larger bugs but in my experience, small gnats pass right between the wires with no effect.
The more common 3-layer design has an inner "hot" grid separated from the outer "ground" layers with plastic spacers. To be zapped, part of the bug has to go far enough in the mesh to touch the center grid. You'd think it would be less effective… but in my testing, it works equally well on large bugs … and much better on small flying gnats.
USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery is better than AA battery
Zapper rackets are usually powered by two AA...

Taylor: It definitely works. I used it on a small mosquito and the zap sound was loud, it actually startled me. Then the bug fell to the floor and had a seizure before falling into the bathtub drain.
