Mimi: A lot of machine shop details only machine shops can do. How to shrink connecting rods on pins? What temperature do you need! How to polish crankshaft, if used again? What to do, if original valves are used…

Thomas M. Kroner: For someone like me who is undertaking their first engine rebuild I'd definitely suggest something more in depth. I was hoping for a more current version of Tom Monroe's "How To Rebuild Your Small-Block Ford" which gives really detailed instructions for a first timer where this book reads more like a magazine article for someone who is familiar with the process. Also, for someone who is rebuilding a 351w, there are not as clear instructions for the differences, specifically torque values. It feels as though the author wanted to write "How to Rebuild a Performance Small-Block Ford" a lot of the time and if that is what you're going for this is a really solid resource. I definitely enjoyed the read but I wish it lived up to its title a bit more.

Amazon Customer: This is a well written book for the beginner to novice builder. The content is mostly based on parts and parts selection. Their is a good section on building engines with lots of good pictures.

Chad R Gandy: No single book is every going to meet everybodys needs. I purchased this book (amongst others) to give me perspective on my engine building project. This is a great book with nice colorful pictures. When building an engine, reading how to do something is not as good as looking at a picture with somebody illustrating the reading. This book has lots of great pictures and information to help you be successful in building an engine and understanding what parts affect performance. This does NOT have technical information like Torque for bolts which you can find in manuals.
I reccomend this book for anybody that is learning how to build engines or learning about how they work.
