GracieLou731GracieLou731: I have 1998 Civic EX Sedan. This book provides a good general overview of all the systems in the cars the book covers. The black and white photos are sometimes helpful and sometimes not (due to their quality). It's by no means a comprehensive repair manual, but does cover basic maintenance and will give more experienced DIYers good info and clues of what to do/where to look for maintenance and repair. However, I am not an experienced DIYer :)
I bought this book because I want to troubleshoot my a/c which is not producing any cold air, either to try to recharge the system myself if it's simply low on refrigerant, or at least be able to take it in for service with a good idea of what's causing the problem.
The book does describe recharging the system and discusses the proper refrigerant to use and shows where the low side/pressure service port is.
But I'm not sure that my car just needs refrigerant. After watching a few YouTube videos I decided to try some basic troubleshooting. I bought a set of pressure gauges and need to attach them to the low side/pressure service port and the high side/pressure service port. But the book doesn't discuss or show the high...

wdritchey: Book is very detailed, excellent diagrams, thorough information, etc. However, for someone building a racecare, I am disappointed as this is lacking some information. There are certain components I have had issues and questions about, I know with the total tear down of the Integra, these questions should be able to be answered by the book, but for the common DIY-er, this info is left out. Yet, I appreciate this book very much. Shows proper ways to adjust, repair, assemble, and take apart many components. Best I have seen yet.

S.D: The book was very helpful given I'm female, blonde, 60 and no mechanic. I did find the pictures a little hard to decipher but having said that I have used the more modern issues for other cars and found the illustrations clearer and easier to follow, so it could well be an age thing. In the books defence I think my CR-V is a year younger than the book but I couldn't find a manual for my specific year/model so all in all a useful item. I did fix the problems that I bought the book to fix and at vastly less than the garage quoted me! This was a pretty good result given I have since found that the problem, with the doors and locks, has been the cause of a recall on similar models. I also got a great felling of accomplishment (ruined the manicure though, lol) All in all a useful and clear instructive manual - now to fix the sun roof.
