Durwood Foote: Nikki and Scott Royer do a very good job of laying out the essentials of raising beef cattle. Organized in five major categories, the reader can "jump" around from chapter to chapter depending on what they are most interested in. Well done and highly recommended to the novice just getting interested in raising cattle, whether for personal home food, or for raising cattle as a business. Bravo!

emma cook: Before you buy this book consider what county you live in, I ordered this and I live in the UK and all the weights and money ect is all in American and this is very unhelpful even though the book says it is made for the USA, UK and Canada I find it is very hard to relate it to the UK

bonnita: Great starter book, After reading it I decided not to go in as a partner in the cattle business. I would have to be silent and that is not me. If I am not knowledgeable I am incapable of making any decisions or suggestions and worse yet I would not know things were going wrong until it had gone wrong. I have not given up on the idea, but it will be years before I am ready even if I go back to collage. I have a greater respect for ranchers armed with a fragment of insight.

donald d hammel: Growing up on a small cattle farm in Kansas but living in the suburbs (Chicago) for over 50 years it was a great reminder of what I had forgotten and additionally it brought me up to date of all the changes that have occurred in the cattle raising business since the 60's.
