Miatasunchaser: Wow for 10.00 including tax we transformed our sliding door to a like new door. I didn't know how the new lock mechanism would work. But after the install, I closed the door and was amazed! You close it, push the locking piece down and voila, the door won't even budge!
Prior to this fix you had to play with the door to even get it to lock. And then it had a lot of sideways slop. Didn't feel secure but now we do.
Highly recommended rather than put up with what we did for far too long.

Louise Taylor: Ours broke after a long time. Matched the old one perfectly and fit the hole like. a glove. A bit stiff at first but will likely loosen as time goes by. Super easy installation by a not handy husband.

Fernand Valliere: Fits and mounts well but there is such a small and weak spring inside latch only lasts about a year fourth I've replaced and keep two as backups because of the size I doubt a more durable would fit price of having sliding patio doors

Jessica J.: The original lock that broke was only ~3 years old. I’m hoping this last at least that long or longer. This new lock seems a bit cheaper, but I already threw away the original to directly compare.

Use vice grip pliers to hold the lock so it doesn’t fall down in the door. Use a screwdriver to turn the lock so the latch sticks out and attached the vice grips to the latch.

Word of advice, make sure the lock moves freely before attaching your handles back on. The mounting holes in my door were slightly off so the lock sat slightly crooked which made it very difficult to articulate the latch. Then the handles squeezed it more and it would barely move. With a bit of finagling, I got it to set vertically straight in the door and it helped tremendously. Also, make sure you get some white lithium grease and spray down in the lock after you have it mounted. It’s now butter smooth. Also, use some WD40 on the handle levers and the key tumbler if yours has that. That also made it smoother.
I plan on periodically lubing it, which I think will improve the longevity.

Amazon Customer: Bought for a replacement part for an existing large patio slider. Recommend watching a you tube video on “ how to replace sliding glass door lock” prior to purchase to ensure you get right one and are clear on installation. In my style of door it’s possible for the whole lock to fall back into the door frame (into the black, irretrievable hole) so before undoing the mounting screws on old lock mechanism … put a pen/pencil through the door … in the hole where you removed the handle mounting screw. This will prevent losing the lock into the frame. Once in, I did need to adjust the lock adjustment screw to ensure the catch caught on the existing jam mount. Now locks tight and is secure!
