Danny Parungao: The treatment of the background and the afterthoughts of the pandemic made this work very. Valuable. It was like the updating of John Barry's work on the pandemic of 1918.

Abby1957: Bear in mind I am a retired nurse (34 years)....This is exactly the COVID-19 information I have been looking for - thorough, in one place, well sourced and so well written that healthcare geeks and non-healthcare geeks can understand the information with ease....It is also very practical in it's recommendations.....There is so much information here I need to reread it in a week or so.... I am fully vaccinated but do know many that refuse to vaccinate - some on the advice of their physicians for comorbid conditions, some due to influences from far more dubious sources.... They are all getting this book as an early Christmas present..... #GetVaccinated #GetYourFluShot I will add, watch who you get your information from - I literally will not listen to anyone that is not a physician or physiican journalist anymore - I have just heard too many mistakes, incomplete presentations or people obviously not understanding what they are saying - most well meaning, but it does lead to confusion and distrust

Jody Herperger: Accessibly written and non-partisan, World War C not only offers some apolitical prescriptions to help address future pandemics but is also an excellent first-pass at documenting the history of Covid-19. Dr. Gupta delves into technical explanations only when necessary and where they add value to the conversation, and remains objective in his depictions of the political machinations that drove the pandemic response. He does get more passionate and partisan when recalling his own experience in delivering medical care - but overall, the book is well balanced and will hopefully be taken seriously by our decision-makers.

michael schulder: In World War C, Dr. Sanjay Gupta excels, as usual, at explaining medical science in a way that stays with you.
His explanations stick because he so clearly and vividly explains the why of things. We all know, for example, that Covid kills when it attacks the lungs. In World War C, Sanjay explains precisely how it “infects, replicates, spreads” and why it causes a “covid cascade in the lungs” — and why the new mRNA Covid vaccines prevent that cascade from happening. We get to know more about the thrilling race to develop these life-saving vaccines and the people who made it happen. World War C also includes the clearest, scientific, non-political, explanations of the two primary, competing theories about how Covid jumped into the human population: the lab leak hypothesis versus zoonotic, or animal to human, hypothesis.

It’s significant that the second half of this book is devoted to synthesizing the latest science on optimizing one’s health — of becoming as “pandemic proof” as possible. The information is actionable — now — in terms of how to “prime the body for pandemic proofing.” For example, we have heard so often that obesity is a...
