The Pisces Midnight Pearl Aquarium Gravel is the perfect choice for any aquarium. This gravel offers a wide range of colors, from shades of brown and grey to hints of gold. Its natural round shape and dark hue provide a stunning backdrop for native features, while also enhancing the colors of tropical fish. With its great portion size and overall satisfaction, the Pisces Midnight Pearl Aquarium Gravel is an ideal choice for any aquarium.NikNik: I was specifically looking for small gravel for my planted aquariums, and I went with this for the darker color and the smoothness. I prefer a darker substrate, and needed a finer, smooth grained substrate for my bottom feeders, but didn't want to go with sand. It isn't as dark as I thought it would be, but it still looks great, kind of like a dark river rock look with the multicolored pebbles. I have it in one tank with medium hardness and 7.4 pH, in another tank that I keep softer and 6.8pH, and another tank that is super soft with a pH of 6.4, so it doesn't seem to interfere with hardness or pH. My plants root really well in it, even without fertilizer tabs (but I did end up adding some to help accelerate the growth of some of my heavy root feeders).

Raleigh: I really love how it looks, it's great for the fish, very smooth and super natural. However, I have had my 20 gallon tank set up for 3 months, and before that all of my fish were established in a 10 gallon tank for a year. I never had any problems with fungus, until a week after I put this gravel in. A white fungus just started growing in my tank and I just recently cleaned the tank and replaced the substrate with this gravel. It's possible that the fungus is unrelated, but the only new thing about my tank is this gravel.

Amanda: However small you think these are, they are smaller. I lost a few through the smallest holes in a colander ever! Haha! That being said, I absolutely love these! The color is great, they weren't too dusty, and my fish and snails seem pleased. I added these to an established tank so I went very slow as to not stress everyone out too much. It was smooth and easy, just long. Thankfully, the rocks made minimal dust clouds after being rinsed just twice. My snails started burrowing right away and it's so cool to watch. I used 3 22lb bags in my 55 gal tank and I think it's perfect. I added live plants at the same time and they are firmly held down, no movement at all. I highly recommend these! Though, take note, photos do not do them justice!!

AndrewAndrew: After using every kind of gravel and substrate out there, I have settled on this mix as my go-to for most of my tanks. It is the perfect color and size for smaller tanks (<30 gallons) as it perfectly blends in with any decor and is an ideal size for smaller fish. This gravel works extremely well for planted tanks and for smaller fish species. Your corydoras will appreciate the smaller size so they are able to sift through it easier to find food without harming their barbels. Planting in this gravel is very simple as it is easy to push plants down into it without damaging roots, and it easily fills in around the stems for a secure hold. The stated dimensions (2-4mm) are accurate, so DO NOT expect this to be the same size as gravel you would typically buy at a chain store, it is a smaller grade. It is, however, large enough to not get sucked in while siphoning, if it's getting sucked in you need to adjust the intake pressure of your siphon. Aside from the size, the appearance of this gravel is what stands out the most. It is truly a unique mixture of colors and textures (although all the rocks have smooth edges) and the smaller size really helps to give it a more natural look,...

rayshootsrayshoots: For the price you get a decent amount of gravel that looks great in an aquarium setting aiming for a natural look. The color is neither too bright or dark and complements real plants and wood well.
The gravel itself is fairly small, but not tiny. Because it’s smaller my fish friends - including a ram cichlid, clown pleco, and some ghost shrimp and snails - are able to easily root around in it to scavenge food that makes it to the bottom.
It’s very easy to clean with a gravel filter, and one bag fills up a 10 gallon tank perfectly (about 1.5-2” of gravel through the tank, which I arranged in a sloping shape). Worth the money.
