Kyle R: My tap water is very acidic. Like PH of 6.0 so I bought the crushed coral and put it in my FX6 filter and by the next day my PH was near 7.0

Leah: Looks amazing in my tank. But be sure to grab product to de cloud the water afterwards. Makes it murky.

Amazon Customer: When I received this product I rinsed it throughly using a fish net and bucket then placed it directly into my tank one cup at a time. My 80 gal planted Tank parameter was 6.5 ph ammonia .5ppm nitrite 1ppm . I placed 5 lbs of the crushed coral directly in my tank to increase the ph quickly so that my beneficial bacteria would survive and multiply fast. Within 4 days of adding my water parameters were ph 7.2 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 so it cycled my tank pretty fast but my newly set up tank was already at least 2 weeks in before I added crushed coral it just wasn’t cycled and I do not recommend using fish to cycle a new fish tank please wait until your tank is cycled. Overall crushed coral boosted my ph. The only reason my ph lowered was because of using CO2 injections for my plants.

E: Was a bit confused when I was buying this because many people were using it as substrate and not just filter media (like I am) for my turtle tank. I somewhat recently started properly caring for my RES and have been taking water tests multiple times a week in order to make sure that everything is good.
I realized his pH was down quite a bit (around 6 or a little lower even) when it should be higher. After taking some advice from some of the other reviews, I ended up putting around 1.5-2 cups into a mesh media bag, put that in my canister filter (after some good rinsing) and the pH has settled now at 7.2!
This did everything I wanted it to and I don't think I'll need to change it for a while. Must get for raising pH! I'd be more careful with the amount you put in if you have fish because they are more sensitive, maybe a half cup at a time, but it works well!

Tina Wilson: I'm in the process of remodeling a 2500 gallon pond to 6500 gallons. I currently have 20 year old Koi and goldfish in a 2000 holding tank. Trying to keep the water parameters stable was/is a big challenge. I was hesitant about this crushed Coral at first really working at keeping the PH and KH raised. It has worked pretty good. Being on a well with soft water and a PH of 6.0 has been a nightmare trying to keep stable. It was never a problem in a big outside pond that needed very little maintenance. A big 2000 gallon fish tank pond is not as balanced so I've had to balance it. This Coral had helped a lot. I filled several large mesh bags and layed them on the bottom. Took the water parameters 4 times a day for a month until I finally got the PH, hardness and parameters that make both koi and goldfish happy at the same time. I did have to add and subtract the Coral until I got the right amount needed to balance it out.

Eric L.: We have a 55 gallon goldfish aquarium and tried to get some live plants and snails going to get it healthier and more natural. We knew we had a low pH but after our big mystery snail died, we found out that this was what was killing him and dissolving his shell. Driftwood we have in the tank turned out to be a big contributing factor to the problem.
We read that this would help and boy did it. We didn't have to change a single other thing about the tank and the pH has settled at 7.4, even with the driftwood still in there. We now have two new mystery snails and they happily race around the tank nonstop - going on two months now.
I've noticed a few questions about the amount needed and how to get to a specific pH. This coral functions as a buffer, so there's not really much you can do to tweak the numbers. It will dissolve as long as the pH is below 7.4, raising it until it gets there. At a pH of 7.4 the coral stops dissolving, so there's no risk of going too high. I would recommend this as a natural, chemical-free fix for absolutely anyone that's struggling with low pH.

April: I'm not sure what happened, but for some reason my tank lost all of it's buffering capacity and the pH started to sink. I read online about using Aragonite to increase buffering (and therefore stabilize/increase pH). Well, it worked spectacularly. I added two (well rinsed) handfuls of this to a media bag, and waited. It took about two days, but my pH started creeping back up. I used a digital pH reader to monitor progress. I was aiming for 6.5 to 7.0. When I saw it get just over 7, I took some out. Right now, my pH has been at a stable 6.7/6.8 for about two weeks. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who has tap water with a low pH, is having pH problems, or is keeping fish that require a higher pH. The raise was effective but gradual, and non of my fish were bothered by the slow change. When the pieces start to get too scummy, you can just toss them and add the same amount back in. If you're using it for any of these things, this bag size will last you an incredibly long time. Make sure you RINSE REALLY WELL. This stuff is practically coated in white powder, and if you don't rinse them extremely thoroughly, it will cloud you tank water up. I rinsed by just squishing them...
