amih: I wish the bag was bigger. I would have needed 4 to 5 more bags for what I was using it for. Which was to put into extremely small fish bowls. 1 bag was used for 4 small bowls. And the bowls don’t have a lot in them in the first place

Clutter Hater: This is a great color for what I need. Not an aquarium but a terrarium with water, this gravel and lucky bamboo (which isn't bamboo but who cares?) I'm not an artsy crafsy person but I saw the terrariium in a book and had to make it. Once I get the bamboo I'll post a photo. Anyway, this color is attention-getting. Probably looks great in an acquarium, too. :-)

Stephanie: This is the best gravel I have ever found. It is rich in color, has a great weight, does NOT shed, and does not have tons of tiny pieces just waiting to attempt to be eaten by your fish. But there is not very much. I have found that about 1/2 a pound works per 1 gallon. You do not need very much gravel and its sole purpose is to weight down decorations and to house beneficial bacteria. About 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of gravel across the bottom of your tank is plenty. You should not exceed 3/4 and inch of gravel as it just becomes difficult to vacuum and therefore houses waste and will dirty your tank and create a harmful environment.
While you can definitely get cheaper gravel at much larger sized bags it will almost certainly not be of this quality and if you don't mind spending a bit of money you will be pleased. Always wash this off before using it in a large bucket and then strain it.

HDT: I bought two bags of these gravel in two different colors, blue and lime. When I opened the bags to rinse the gravel, I was really pleased with their quality. Probably the best gravel I've ever used. There was no dust, dirt or broken bits in the bag. Each piece is large in size, so it's a nice choice for aquariums that might be having issues with gravel that slips through filters on pumps and such. It's very clean, and looks really good in my fish's bowl. However the lime color is not green at all. It doesn't even resemble green, no matter what light I look at it in. It's a light yellow color. The best way I can describe it, would be to call it a pale neon yellow. The blue gravel I ordered in addition to the lime, was true to color. Sort of a deep royal blue color.
I have a beta in a fish bowl that looks to be a little bit more than a half-gallon in size, and one bag would have been enough for me to order. But since I wanted to mix the colors, I used half of the contents of two bags. So I would guess you probably need between 1/2 to 1 bag for every half gallon your tank/bowl is. Using the equivalent of one bag of gravel in my half-gallon fish bowl, it sits about 1.5 inches...

BudaAndiBudaAndi: I ordered the blue gravel at two different times and ended up with two completely different blue colors. The first order was mid September of this year, and the gravel was a deep dark blue. It was really pretty and I loved the way it looked in the tank. I finally got around to ordering more to fill the tank and ordered a couple more bags of blue. The blue that came this week is a bright aqua blue, no where near the dark blue that I first received and no where near the color on the product image. Outside of that, the gravel that I put in the tank in September still looks great and I would buy this again, but am bummed that different colors of blue were received without knowing that there would be that much of a variation (added a product image to show the difference in blues).
