JDH: Easy to follow directions, and batteries are included. I just tested it with my butane lighter (without flame), and it sounded off as expected. It'll be a permanent tool in our camper trailer during the summer season, and accessable for the natural gas system in our home. Much easier to use compared to messy leak detector fluid. I'm glad I bought one, and you would be too.

Jill: I woke up at 2:45am to a strong smell. My husband couldn’t smell it, but I had a headache, was nauseous, my throat was scratchy, and was not feeling great. I kept telling him it was a gas leak. It felt like I couldn’t breathe and like I needed fresh air. He still couldn’t smell anything, but I was positive I wasn’t going crazy. I was so panicked I went online to search for a detector right away. I knew I didn’t want the pen type because the fire department told my husband they don’t really work so I ordered this one because it had same day delivery. It arrived in a few hrs which I’m so thankful for. Most importantly this little device works. My husband found the leak and was able to fix it right away.
I’m also glad we won’t ever be without it.

Michele: I have a propane heater in my van. This is my first time using this kind of heater and I wanted to make sure all the connections I made were leak free. Yeah, I know about the soap and water trick, but honestly it's pretty messing inside a van. You turn the detector on, use the dial on the side to calibrate it in fresh air, then just run the bendy head around any fittings and along the bottom of the heater (want to make sure it's not leaking either). If you test right after you've start up your heater the alarms will go off because there is propane in the air from lighting. Wait 10 minutes and you'll get an accurate reading. Buzzes and lights light up- no confusing if there is leak alarm; look for all the lights to come on and alarm to sound. I keep it in a drawer near the tank. I use it every time I turn the knob on top the propane tank. The unit is bright yellow, like the sealing tape you should be using on all your propane fittings.

Mary: My house has had a smell that I could not identify for the past 2 months. I cleaned the carpet , washed the dog and cats and kept wondering what the smell was. I bought this little gas leak detector and received it a couple of days ago. It required batteries so it took me another day to get the batteries. Last night I put in the batteries , took it outside as per directions, turned it on, dialed down the lights on the right side , waited for it to set itself. When it was quiet I took it inside and darned if all of the lights started flashing and the alarm on it going off ! I was shocked ! It was too late to call anyone but I called the gas company this morning and they came out, verified that there was a very definite gas leak and red tagged /shut off the gas to my house !! I am still in shock as I am writing this . There was no rotten egg odor that I recognized, although there was a strange odor . I blamed it on everything from the cats to maybe something dead . Now I have to find a contractor to find and fix the source of the leak. Thank goodness for this little detector !! I had read good reviews ,so I had reason to believe that it was real and did what they said it could do ....
