Saint James: I was looking for a substitute of the expensive and useless 0.8M Apple Cable and this one is perfect !!! Works fine, good shape, strong. Really good product full of promises. Go for it !

James: Enabled an extremely fast rate of charge for our devices and is incredibly high quality. The cable is strong yet flexible showing no signs of wear after several months of use. Highly recommend.

Zawar MehmoodZawar Mehmood: I've been using this cable for several months now and not once has it given any issues. I use it to connect my Orico TB3 dock to my M1 MacBook Pro. I've maxed out the ports on the dock and cable provides a sturdy 40 Gb/s.

CatMac: This cable works quite well for me on iMac 2019 with all updates of course. Has been very fast...especially when plugging into the Extreme Portable SanDisk SSD external drive.

GimliGimli: This cable is excellent. I bought it to replace a shorter cable, because I needed the extra length. But this cable is so much nicer!

The jacket is made of rubbery-feeling material, and is very soft. The cable is a lot more pliable than my previous cable. The previous cable feels like a plastic rod, while this cable is a pleasure to handle.

I'm using this cable to connect MacBook Air M1 to a 4K smart board. This cable allows me to use the smart board's touch screen to control the apps running on the laptop. It also carries video and sound. Everything works great.

Highly recommended!

Ray W.: Update 4/23/2019:
I reached out to Plugable customer support and they were prompt, courteous, understanding, and thorough in their responses. Their technician believes that the 2 meter length of the cable and it being thunderbolt 3 meant that two phones connected together might not be pushing enough power to sustain a stable link and that's why I was seeing the drop outs. I reproduced this between a Pixel 2 XL and a Samsung Galaxy S10+ as well. However, connecting my phone to my PCs USB-C 3.1gen2 port worked perfectly, as expected and maintained a stable connection for fast data transfers to and from the PC. Their customer support was frank and offered a refund for this situation but I politely refused citing that since the cable doesn't appear to be defective since the PC and charging use case works, I would feel bad about receiving a refund. They offered to provide a different cable to supplement this one to cover this remaining use case and I accepted that offer. Will update review when that time comes. This pleasant exchange has allowed me to restore some stars to the review.

A.I.: I bought this cable to connect my new desktop PC to the 38" LG monitor (38UC99-W). The USB-C cable that came with the monitor would be just the right length to connect to a laptop sitting on the desk next to the monitor, but it was too short for a desktop PC which I wanted to put under the desk. I needed a 2 meters long cable. To run this monitor at 60 Hz at resolution of 3840 by 1600 pixels, the cable has to be able to work at 8.84 GHz. This is a very high frequency which not every cable can transmit, even for cables labelled "USB-C". I cannot tell if this product would go to the maximum specified frequency of 20 GHz, but it is definitely good enough to run a top of the line monitor. The advantage of Thunderbolt 3 / USB-C is that it combines in itself Display Port monitor output, USB connection, and digital audio stream. With just one cable between the PC and the monitor, I can use built-in speakers and use USB ports on the back of the monitor to connect keyboard and mouse. It is good that one can find on Amazon a certified Thunderbolt cable that meets the expectations and does not cost a fortune.

Another thing, Thunderbolt 3 is backwards compatible with USB-C, i.e., it...

ShopaholicShopaholic: This is Nathan K, a Google Top Contributor program volunteer (Nexus/Pixel Support Forums), and follower of Benson Leung doing independent USB-C verification and testing. I analyzed Plugable's "Thunderbolt 3 20Gbps USB-C Cable (6.6'/2m, 3A/60W)" [Model TBT3-20G2M].

This PASSIVE eMarked cable appears to comply with the USB Type-C specification version 1.2. It also has rather favorable performance characteristics, given constraints of the 2m length. Active cable designs are currently highly flawed in my opinion at this time (Dec 2016), so this is a good "long distance" USB3.1Gen1 (5gbps) data + Thunderbolt 3-20gbps data + charge (3A/60W) cable in the meanwhile.

THE GOOD: The cable is properly advertised as having USB3.1Gen1 support. It is built out of Lintes ODM cable stock with good performance characteristics. It meets all SI, DCR, Continuity, and eMarker tests on a TotalPhase Advanced Cable Tester Level 2. It can be operated at 120% capacity (6Ghz) and still pass SI thresholds. The DC resistance is technically low enough to be considered a 5A/100W cable, barely. (It is eMarked as 3A for safety, correctly.) It even omits pin B6/B7 in the plug as suggested in the spec....
