Bill M.: It supports Dolby Atmos in a 3.1.2 configuration. The enhanced dolby surround sound setting will amaze you and have you thinking it is a 5.1 not a 3.1 setup
The height channels double as surround channels for 5.1 setup however this provides no access to dolby atmos in the 5.1 configuration. One solution to this is the use of the supported DTS X codec setting which is likely available whenever the atmos setting is.
The included auto-configuration settings using the calibration microphone is adequate, not perfect, but at a minimum provide a starting point to what you desire in fine tuning.
The HDMI throughput is astonishingly good, providing clear crisp video including 4K HDR. HDMI-CEC works well but is not perfect much the same as other receivers I have had. Bear in mind the more CEC devices connected the less likely you will have perfect control.
Input options include built-in audio chromecast, AirPlay, net platforms such as Spotify, TuneIn and Play Fi. One thing to note I could not get the Play Fi app to open Amazon Music on my phone, likely a Canadian Amazon issue and hopefully will be fixed in a future update. It sounds as good, possibly better than any other low to...

YS Rider: I was looking to save a few bucks, but not be a total cheapo, and this was the receiver I picked. I did not need a lot of HDMI ports. I might use three. I also have a 5.1 set up, and don't need more. I did like having it networked and the modern features (like bluetooth to my phone to play music and Chromecasting is a bonus). A lot of people won't care, but I don't use WiFi that much in setting up AV or home media. I try to run the cable, so I can't speak to the effectiveness of the WiFi. It's cool to have if you don't want to run more Ethernet. Also, if you want to run cable, that works too. The ARC set up with devices that know about it is funky. How can I explain. If I do things in the right order, the ARC turns things off together. If I turn off something alone, later I have to get the ARC stuff lined back up so it would work right with my TV remote. Anyway, it hasn't left me wanting. I do not have a subwoofer in my set up, but I can say this had nice bass response to my larger speakers, and I don't even miss having that. That is new for this receiver, but might have just gotten lucky with my tuning this time. Also, it comes with a fancy microphone for setting up the speaker...

RockStar2005: I bought this 4K-compatible Pioneer receiver to replace my now old non-4K compatible Denon receiver which really wasn't working too well with my new 4K TV. Not only did I get this for a GREAT price ($265), it was VERY easy to set up (MUCH easier than my Denon was), and it works FLAWLESSLY as well! (Note: I had to do a little extra "tweaking" to perfect the sound quality via my surround sound speakers, but this was minimal at best.)
The fact that it comes with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos (I really only care about the Dolby Vision) compatibility was a MAJOR bonus as my Sony 4K TV comes with Dolby Vision, which is the BEST HDR........even better than Samsung's HDR10+, as well as the standard HDR10. So this receiver ensures I won't have to worry about the Dolby Vision signal getting through.
I also love the built-in Wi-Fi so I don't have to manually follow-up on whether an update is available or not. The receiver does it for me and will let me know when one is available for download. This also saves me from having to buy an extra Ethernet cable, since I already bought one for my TV (so to have the BEST connection for streaming apps).
I've had this receiver for...

mark schwartz: First off this was new not refurbished.
I'm kinda techy not new to AVR'S so set up was a breeze for me just the way I like it.
Replacing a 9 year old Yamaha AVR that wasn't 2.2 HDR compliant.
The picture quality given by the pioneer for a low budget is fantastic I'm blown away by it.
The sound is as good as your speakers and your wires you use.
I'm very pleased.
I'm not sure if this is Dolby Atmos ready or not as I'm not set up for it but am set up as a 5.1 .
No complaints on the sound lots of settings to choose from on sound options.
So far very happy only been a couple of days though any changes in performance I'll post it.
Started mid June 2019 black screen changed out HDMI cable still same issue.
Seller was great gave me a number to call to get it looked at.
Thanks great responsibleness from seller definitely buy from again

Downfall2448: I was replacing a 15 year old receiver, and didn't want to spend a lot of money on the next receiver. This was a great win. I really wanted only a 5.1 system for the speaker set that I have in my small apartment, and the sound from this is lovely. I'm not an audiophile so this is great value for me. The only thing that I needed other than that, was banana plugs in the receiver.
As for things I don't like. The menu system is pretty weak, and the pre-set HDMI buttons on the remote don't really make sense for a house with no cable and a lot of gaming/streaming.

JAM: I've only has this for a few days, but so far so good. The sound is crisp and clear and audio mode adjust quickly to whatever it's receiving from the host. The bass is deep and rich and not overpowering. This receiver also has a true pass through, meaning if you turn the receiver off, the other component you are using at the time the received is turned off will still broadcast through the TV.. Setup is all done on screen and extremely easy. Network setup was also very easy and so far the receiver has maintained a strong connection. Blue tooth streaming and airplay works well. With CEC enabled all components turn on with the satellite receiver and the receiver volume changed with both the TV or satellite remote. My previous received was a Samsung AV-720 which had great sound, but the CEC and pass through did not work as advertised. Very please so far.

Gregory C. PruittGregory C. Pruitt: I was replacing an ONKIO home theater in a box that died a few years ago. I ended up buying this product, mostly for its features and reviews. Features like Bluetooth, WiFi, and 4K HDMI 2.2. The units physical height was larger than would fit in my TV stand. But, I can, and did place the unit on the upper shelf of my TV stand. Needless to say, it looks great as the center piece of my Man Cave entertainment center. In terms of features, this unit, for its price point turned out to be a perfect balance. After connecting my speakers, 4K TV, PlayStation, Cable box, and Firestick, I made sure all components were functioning. initially, I was a bit dissipated with the sound quality I was getting from my .FLAC music files. That's when I remembered that the unit has the MCACC auto configuration utility. I ran the feature, and within a few minutes, the feature had completed its evaluation of my speaker sizes and locations. I then played some of my .FLAC music files. Oh-YEAH! the sound was wonderful, full sounding, great high tones, and deep sub-woofer response. I don't believe I could have manually set-up the system to sound as good as it turned out after running the MCACC auto config...
