Elk Hunter: The only things I disliked is that I ordered the winter blend and I was mailed the summer blend. And I prefer the old style aluminum can packaging over the ziplock bag style.

Amazon Customer: Easy enough to use. Way easier than the hemp rope! Get a good fluff and it lights easily with a Ferro rod. Burn time is good, about 5 minutes from a dime sized ball. About like a fireplug. Honestly I can't say I have a winner between this and fire plugs. Both work about the same. I have tested the fire plugs more in windy conditions so I can't speak of how easy it is to light in that situation. But I assume about the same? I will say it is probably easier to stick this to something unlike the plugs so it won't fly away. I still haven't found the "magic" one yet. Easy to starts and burns a long time. WetFire tabs are pretty close though.......but expensive!

Thomas Coffey: 1. This stuff is expensive in any form, especially more so in 0.5oz mini-tins. For me, the 2oz is "bulk supply" and the mini-tin is an all-weather backup fire starter in my fire kit that can be refilled from the 2oz.
2. It does ignite relatively easily when "stretched/webbed" for filaments with, say, a BIC, match, or Arc Lighter; typically need a bigger area "target" for easily igniting with a Ferrocerium rod or sparker of some sort, but that's more the less directed nature of the sparks.
3. The stuff works as a fire starter, and if you use a tiny amount and smear/stretch it on the tip of a fuzz stick, it is both easy to ignite and makes that stick a tinder-torch stick in to ignite the tinder in your fire lay. Sure, you can pinch off a bigger chunk, and it will burn longer, but the idea is to most easily and quickly ignite something that then ignites something else harder to ignite and longer burning that in turn ignites your tinder that burns long enough to ignite your kindling that in turn ignites your firewood. ... You get the idea, it's a chain reaction thing, so if done right you prepare so that you don't really need a big gob of this expensive stuff.
4. Even if damp...

Ryan H.: The stuff catches really quickly, and it doesn't require too many pinches to get something going. If you go find some dry kindling, and smear a couple of pinches on that kindling, and slowly feed bits of bark and twigs as the product catches, you will have a fire in no time. This is something that should be in everybody's gear bag not only for planned camping trips, but also in case you are stranded or for some reason find yourself an emergency situation and need to stay warm. For those that have an emergency first aid kit in their car at all times, this should go hand in hand with something like that.
