Ric Donato: Scrap off the outer black coating, this ferro rod sparks up a storm. Much better than other ferro rods I have used. This should last a very long time.

Jeff Rau: This thing is awesome. I've been working on my alternative fire starting methods (waxed twine, magnesium shavings, fat wood, etc) but consistently had trouble getting those lit with my travel size flint and steel, even with the attached magnesium block. No more! This thing lights up Mg shavings, waxed twine, dry grass, and probably more. Lots of hot sparks, easy to hit target. And bonus paracord. Love it.
