Gooba: Ordered one bag to try, someone packed the same box with a metallic stuff snd dutingbthe delivery the bag was perforated loosing more the 2/3 of seeds! Amazon custimer service automation, sent me another bag for free on the fly, move the sod fertilizer, check the ph, watering watering, repeat.
I can se my backyard with alopecia, for the amount of nitrogen snd seeds dropped I received two small areas with a soft long grass. Rebel? Sure, this grass does what it wants. Wasted money.

Richard: Much of the grass is short, sort of like you might find in a typical lawn. But much of it is TALL. I didn't realize that Pennington had mastered SUPER TALL FESCUE. Admittedly it looks a bit odd when the majority of the grass is about 2 inches tall after 5 weeks, but quite a bit of it is now 15 inches tall. If I wait until the old style normal grass is 3 inches tall to mow this new super grass may go to seed and take over the planet.
With each new house I have started a lawn from seed. With a strict HOA I would be getting notices by now. While am amused by my new lawn, if this tall stuff is not an annual variety I will have to apply roundup to the whole thing and start over with another brand of seed. On the plus side this mess germinated quickly

FOUR DAYS AFTER FIRST CUTTING

Four days after its initial cutting the SUPER TALL, which I am certain you understood to be weed grass, started to go to seed. Within 2 months of planting I have to kill my new lawn. I cannot cut it every four days and if I let it go longer I run the risk of these weed seeds germinating and then I can never get rid of it.

Timazon: Fescue seed is slow to germinate and slow to fill-in, and it doesn’t spread as easily as other seed varieties.

Still, fescue is more heat tolerant, requires less water, and does better in part shade than other seed varieties.

I’d say the germination rate of this seed was excellent, two months after planting on bare ground it’s nice and thick and deep green. The bunnies on my lawn also seem to like it, they’ve been mowing it for me for weeks now.

Catherine S. Rhyner: If you’re trying to overseed a bluegrass lawn with a shade tolerant grass that will resemble perennial poa (Ky bluegrass), this is your best option; at least as far as I’ve discovered. I’m a golf course greens keeper and a Turfgrass student at PSU. The color of this tall fescue will be very similar to your perennial poa. The growth pattern is slightly different and the blade texture is similar enough to not stand out too much. Where I planted this seed I see very strong , deeply rooted, thick bladed , forest green foliage. As a note, please understand this species of fescue will do well in traffick areas, requires far less maintenance but will eventually, over time with frequent mowing will become a bit coarse. What I mean by coarse is this: if walking bare foot over this bunch grass it will feel slightly harder, pricklier, (more woody tho woody is an unfair word to use) not as soft as poa or rye. FYI. But, if your tree canopy is preventing your poa to thrive, this is an EXCELLENT option/alternative. This brand/manufacturer stall fescue is very effective. Please ignore reviews saying “it won’t grow” or “zero germination” I’ve had zero trouble getting this...
