Janet: We suspected there was a gas leak outside where the gas line connected into the house. Several times the utility company came out and was not able to detect anything. Using this device we were able to take our time and find the leak so this purchase paid for itself in peace of mind. We have since lent it out to several other people, one of who had a leak at the connection behind his oven. Worth every single penny.

Joe M: It seems to work and have high sensitivity, but I don't have tools to check the calibration. I can't comment on accuracy for that reason. The instructions say it can be operated for 9 hours continuously, but it is not clear if that is the total life for the sensor or if the sensor can be replaced. I believe that sensors on these types of units won't last forever and do require periodic calibration. The instructions offer little information.

The order was received quickly without problems.

Benjamin D.: No, it wasnt life threatening like some of the other reviews, mine wasnt a natural gas leak but it was a leak that I wasn't going to be able to smell. You see when your car blows a head gasket coolant is allowed to get into the oil and vice versa, some unburned gasoline is also able to get into the coolant. By testing my coolant reservoir in my vehicle after it was warmed up this device was able to detect the presence of unburned fuel, something that would never happen unless my head gasket was bad. Never trust mechanics in Vegas, he said he had just done the head gasket :(

When I bought this, there was another "color" option. This one has a digital display and costs a few more dollars. Let me tell you, the digital display (showing numbers 0-9999) is TOTALLY worth it. See the review for why.

Review:

Our gas stove has been giving us trouble. A couple months ago one of our burner valves was leaking (it's pretty easy to smell). This was an easy fix since it was easy to feel the gas leaking out of the burner.

Last week, however, there was a smell coming from the back of the oven (I must've bumped something when putting it back into place). I pulled the oven back out, tried smelling everywhere, feeling for air leaks. I even tried the 'ole spray bottle method. Nothing.

The last thing I want to do is spend $500+ on a new stove, or $150+ for someone to fix a 5 year-old stove if all I have to do is order a ~$40 part and replace it myself.

The package arrived early and was very easy to set up. I was a little concerned it wouldn't be accurate or precise enough for troubleshooting small gas pipes on the back of our stove. After about 30 minutes of futzing around I found out exactly where the leak was! It was in a...
