JD3: This 2.4GHz wireless adapter took less than 60 seconds to configure w/ my Ubuntu 14.04.4 install on old WinXp machine. The driver for it came with the Ubuntu distribution. It took me more time to get it out of the package and plug it in than it did to configure. It arrived 1 day early with Amazon Prime free 2 day shipping. This is the one to get for virtually all OS's (see below). Just be careful, it only works at 2.4GHz - NOT AT 5GHz.

Amazon Customer: I was looking for a dongle to work with Linux - right out of the box, without a lot of fiddling - and this sounded good. And it *does work* without fiddling or driver installs, at least on Pop!_OS.
Once online, speed is fine (haven't tested it, but it's just as quick as any of my other computers) and it hooks up immediately when plugged in.
But that gets to one of my two demerits for this dongle, neither very serious.
The first may be related to my use case - which is admittedly a little unusual. I needed this dongle for an old Macbook I rescued. I had Pi OS (Raspbian) on it at first, but found it wasn't that useful. Then I tried Pop! just because I had a recently downloaded version already on a USB stick - plugged it in, and found that it worked great.
The one thing Pop! didn't pick up was the Airport, though. After noodling around, I decided that a simpler and possibly faster way around the WiFi issue was to just get a dongle, and this is it.
But - Demerit #1 - I find that the Macbook won't boot with the dongle plugged in - if you boot it first, then plug in the dongle, it picks up my network and goes to town. But I have to pull it out every...
