Mswix98: I spent many childhood days in Palm Beach in the 60s and 70s with my grandmother who resided at 300 South Ocean Blvd. I also attended a NC summer camp with the Pulitzer girls. So it was fun to read about some of the behind the scenes hanky prank. And boy was there a lot!

Amazon Customer: The beginning and middle were better because it was about the beginnings of PalmBeach, stuff I didn’t know. But ending was ok but felt more repetitive and gossipy. But I was 3/4 of the way through and finished it. I gave4 stars because it kept my interest the entire read, even though the tone of the book changed a bit.

viv grigg: It was too long, and badly written.
While I am here, PLEASE could you put my correct Visa number in your system. You persist in using my old one, and the new one is actually highlighted beside it. It is most annoying to not be able to purchase my books easily.

Kindle Customer: The extravagant lifestyles, the squandering of money and how it really doesn’t make you any happier in the final outcome.

Amanda: Palm Beach Scandallion. This was okay. I bought as I live in one of the 10 000 Palm Beaches around the world and thought it would be fun to read on a week away. It was. It is easy to read. Made me chuckle out loud in a few places. It taught me nothing, well the history of the place was interesting the chapter at the start. It reaffirmed that money does not buy: sense, taste, intelligence, humour, manners, patience or morals. Pity. I hope the book makes the writers a few dollars - because there was the tiniest twinge of envy every now and then throughout the book. It needed to be written, a more history based one would have been nice but not as juicy! Also, the bane of my life, there were a few editing problems - which always irks me. I pay money to read a book, make sure it is at least spell checked and edited....
Read it on the beach, preferably a Palm Beach, the Palm Beach if you can - and the ultimate? Add a new chapter.

Martina A. Nicolls: Palm Beach Babylon is about the island in Florida where the rich and famous live and vacation. The book mentions the island’s founder Henry Flagler – establishing Palm Beach in 1894 for the ‘recuperative powers of Florida’s sunshine’ – as well as its guests, visitors, and residents: Isadora Duncan, Gloria Swanson, Marjorie Merriweather Post, the Kennedys, Larry Flynt, John Lennon, Estee Lauder, Donald Trump, the Dodges, Helmsleys, Pulitzers, Vanderbilts, Mizners, and Madoffs – to name a few.
The book is more than tales of sex, drugs, and parties – or of mansions and El Mirasol. There is history behind the stories. Keeping to a rough chronological order, the book is separated into people and themes, rather than a strict timeline, which is an easy and orderly way to read about Palm Beach’s history of residents. For example, 60-year-old Robert Young’s railroad disaster of 1958 (and the years that led to his disaster), followed by the Kennedys in the 1960s, with the inauguration of John F Kennedy as America’s 35th president in 1961. An interesting chapter is about John Lennon’s purchase of property in Palm Beach in 1980 – the first worldwide acclaimed...

Star: The book is jammed packed with stories of the rich and famous and several pages of photos. For the price I wasn’t expecting much but after a few pages I couldn’t put it down. The book is sort of history/biography/tabloid rolled into one and I wasn’t bored for one minute.

M. Massey: A good story about the developers of big fortunes and how those who inherited it, wasted it on themselves. Many relationships, drug and alcohol over-indulging and sex parties. Not my cup of tea.
