I bought the Oster Oskar 2-in-1 Salad Prep & Food Processor to grate carrots, and it does so very rapidly. However, it has two drawbacks. One drawback is turning it on. A simple on-off button would be much better than the current design, which requires twisting the grating bowl--a difficult maneuver to accomplish while holding the unit in place to catch the grated carrots. The second drawback is that it does not permit a round bowl to fit completely under the spout where the grated carrots are dispensed. So some grated carrots end up landing outside the bowl. Nonetheless, this item is a lot better than using a hand grater, which often results in bloody fingers.

Food thrown out of the chute could not be adequately contained using a large bowl. Causing unwanted cleanup.

It is super fast. So evenness of your slicing is not the equal all the time. ITS SUPER FAST. The only thing is its a bit messy. The design of the spout where the veggies come out is not long enough. When I put a bowl under it..you have veggie mess on the side where it does not get into the bowl. That tiny hassle is an oversight compared to how much veggies I can have sliced or shredded at once. SUPER FAST. worth the purchase indeed.

When I got married thirty two years ago my grandmother gave me one hundred dollars to buy something to last. I bought the original version which has lasted all these years chopping garlic, peppers and onions nearly every night as well as grading cheese. I upgraded to the newer model only because the metal on the blade slightly rusted underneath from putting away wet. The newer version has metal on plastic that will eliminate rust. The original still works and I am having a hard time tossing it. Well made product.
