Enjoy the satisfying taste of Frontier Co-op Organic Whole Caraway Seed today!Bruce B.: These seeds are what give traditional rye bread most of its flavor. However, they are also great with other foods such as chicken, tuna, mushrooms, and vegetables. They also make an interesting salad dressing with nut or sesame butter, plain yogurt, fresh grated garlic, and a dash of hot sauce. The seeds are very hard with sharp ends and don't dissolve well to release their flavor. The solution is to grind them first. Put just enough seeds to barely cover the blender blades. Blend on maximum speed until they are as pulverized as you want them. If you leave the blender upright, they will gum up around the inside base of the blender jar. The solution to that is to tilt the entire blender about 30 degrees while being sure to hold the lid on tightly. This allows the seeds to be thrown up toward the top of the blender jar and fall back into the blades, rather than pooling in the bottom of the jar. For maximum freshness, only grind enough seeds to use up in a couple of weeks. Keep the ground seeds and unground seeds in separate tight-sealing glass jars in the refrigerator.

Balzac: If you love caraway - and people either love it or hate it - you will be thrilled with these fresh and very fragrant organic seeds. Best I’ve ever bought, makes you realize how old most of what is sold is. These are wonderful and delicious!
Update October, 2021
Ordered more organic caraway and received “natural” instead. Frontier’s silver packaging has a white label with green edging for natural caraway, and a red edged white label for organic.
The package arrived in a plastic sleeve with a small sticker affixed to it, which read organic. Inside the plastic sleeve, was non-organic caraway, with Frontier’s own green edged label. .
This item is not returnable,I had to phone Amazon customer service to get a refund. Whether this is merely error or an attempt at fraud by tbis seller, who can say....? In any case, caraway seeds grown in some countries have tested positive for pesticides, so organic is the way to go.

Sandbar: I bake a lot of rye bread (see Steve's Artisan Bread on You Tube). Easiest way to make bread, & since rye bread is my favorite, I make it quite frequently. Those little spice jars in the grocery stores barely contain enough caraway seeds to make more than 3 loaves, so I thought I'd get QUANTITY to last. The seeds are very fresh & fragrant, and now I won't be running to the store to buy yet another little jar to go along with all my empty little jars!

Carolynn: The heavenly aroma of these fresh seeds fills my kitchen with thoughts of fresh hearty grain bread and home made crackers. I make both at least once a week. . These caraway seeds go into a mix of sunflower, sesame, poppy seeds, onion flakes, salt, and garlic powder, They are ground just a little in my Krups coffee grinder along with some walnuts and almonds. I put some in the bread and crackers and the rest are put on an egg wash on top. Grinding these whole seeds just a little, releases the oils and gives everything a wonderful "rye bread" flavor. Great on steamed cabbage and other vegetables too! Grind them very well into powder, and people with seed chewing issues will get the flavor without having to complain about the seeds. I keep the seeds in tightly sealed zip lock containers in the freezer for longer freshness. Amazing price for a whole pound of organic seeds!

A. Thankful: I use at least 2 to 3 Tablespoons of this in my homemade rye bread and it is out of this world, Praise God! If you whiz these seeds around in a mini food processor for a Lil bit to warm them up and grind a few, they release even more flavor into your recipe!!! These combined with King Arthur organic medium rye and the secret ingredient of Claussen dill pickle juice makes awesome NY deli style rye! Thank you Jesus that I found these and can buy them by the pound!
