Laura: I've had chicory before and it's amazing how much this French roast tastes like real coffee. It also has more benefits: it has no caffeine so no highs and lows, it's loaded with inulin which is great for gut health, blood glucose control, and does help keep me full until lunch. The 1lb bag is more economical than coffee. I've found 1 tsp for 10oz of water is perfect, a little goes a long way. I add a sprinkle of cinnamon or flavored creamer. It's perfect when you can no longer have the OG.

Victoria K.: I like using the chicory root pieces in a French press because it comes out very strong, which is excellent when making iced "coffee" and then adding oat milk (or any other creamer). Personally, I found using the roots too strong for me for a hot drink. When I want it hot, I use the French instant brand: Leroux. That is a very subtle flavor that literally dissolves without even stirring. However, I found the reverse is true. The Leroux doesn't stand up enough to ice, so I keep both on hand in my cupboard. Win - win!

S. L. White: I really loved the taste and convenience of this French chicory. It was easy to brew and it has a rich sharp taste that I could easily get used to instead of drinking coffee each day.

However, I can't drink this chicory. The first day I tried it, I followed the directions. One cup, and at the end of the day, I had a headache that was somewhat similar to a migraine. The second day, the same. So I am sensitive to it in some respect, but others who are truly allergic will likely have watery eyes, nasal drainage, etc. I have no identified allergy to ragweed and I am not sure why this bothered me. My teeth and sinuses ached.

I have consumed Teeccino in the past and enjoyed it, but it has a lot less chicory, and very often adds barley, carob, and dandelion in the mix. I think Teeccino is likely the only way I could consume chicory, expensive though Teeccino is.

Never forget that chicory has the highest amount of inulin of all plants occurring in nature. At the proper strength, this could change your gut bacteria very quickly.

Some individuals are going to pick up on the somewhat chemical smell and taste in chicory. I wonder if the ability to discern this...

Ben: I put this ground chickory in my coffee maker instead of coffee. I use whole milk with a spoon of black strap molasses for sugar flavor. It’s quite good. Though it’s not coffee I can appreciate it and enjoy a cup in the morning. Trying to break the use of coffee as it doesn’t allow you to absorb minerals which I am lacking. This particular brand of chickory is better than others I have tried too. Nice flavor, rich but not overly strong.

S. Keller: Very tasty. Articles say chicory is good for your health, too. So far, I percolate coffee and chicory at a 3 to 1 ratio. Organic chicory is more expensive than organic coffee that I can buy in bulk. If the price of organic chicory goes down, I'd make chicory coffee with 1 part coffee and 1 part chicory.
