Melissa Bosi: I use these mostly in my smoothies or in my "nice" cream I make in my Creami. They have a super rich deep chocolate taste and they are crunchy even in liquids which makes them fun to eat. All organic and they don't spike my sugar levels. Highly recommend.

Tonya: These are great tasting good quality nibs. They are priced well. The bag is sturdy but the zipper seal could be better. It won't "seal". No matter how many times you close it, it isn't locked. Not a huge deal for me, I've ordered these repeatedly anyway cause they are great quality at a great price. Seem fresh. I've had no issues with "shells" that I saw in other reviews..... and I've gotten probably 3-4 bags now. Of course they aren't suppose to be just like chocolate though, they are cacao nibs. I think some ppl don't know what they are meant to be like.

Justinedkd: Not sure what I was expecting, but my hope was for a decent replacement for the Krisida sugar-free chocolate chips that are no longer available on Amazon. Anyway, with that in mind and the direct comparison - they are horrible BUT that was based on what my hope was for the product. I personally would never buy this again and am not sure how to use this big bag. They truly are a bitter dark chocolate so do not expect it to replace a sugar-free alternative.

Jeff & LisaJeff & Lisa: I love chocolate, but as a diabetic it’s not a good idea. There’s some question about dark chocolate, but it needs to have less than ideal additives for me to find it palatable. These cacao nibs actually satisfy my craving! I first tried a smallish teaspoon on my morning yogurt and was absolutely delighted! Serving size is listed at 3 tbsp, but the tiny amount on my palm was plenty. These cacao nibs will be a fine answer to my chocolate cravings!

J. HoldenJ. Holden: Unsweetend chocolate in its most natural form! These are not refined baking chocolate chips that are candy. These are ground, lightly roasted, cacao beans, and they are amazing. Dark colored, no shells, crunch like walnuts. Yes, they are bitter. But not too bitter. The aroma is rich, fairly chocolaty. Breathing in at the bag is heavenly. Taste has a mild chocolate. If you are not new to cacao nibs, I think you will be very impressed. Can't beat the price for this quality, imo. Re: the California warning. Read up on it on the Viva Naturals website. The CA strictness exceeds U.S., Canadian, and world standards, not intended for foods with naturally occurring cadmium and lead. Because some sales go to California, it is easiest for companies to put the legally required statement on all packaging.

olaf: Edit 8/18/15: I've grown to like these nibs more than I initially did. The taste grew on me, and the more you get used to their unique flavor, the chocolate notes are much more noticeable and easier to appreciate. I still think the raw cacao powder has superior flavor, but these are actually pretty darn good, taken for what they are.

I am writing this review as someone who has ordered Viva's raw cacao powder in the past. The powder was good and had a strong, rich, and pungent raw chocolate character. I used it to mix with coffee or add to smoothies. I ordered the nibs, thinking it might be a nice snack to grab a hand full of nibs to much on and satisfy my chocolate cravings. I had tried nibs before when I visited the Cadbury factory, and enjoyed them at the time. These nibs, I find lack that rich and pungent flavor of the embedded chocolate liquor. The flavor is quite weak, leaving a bitter aftertaste. I don't know if I just got a really good batch of the powder and a bad batch of the nibs, or maybe the grinding of the nibs into powder is what really releases the chocolate flavor. Regardless, I wanted to share my experience and comparison. In the future I will be sticking...
