Juan Carlos: Funciona muy bien, tiene una potencia de salida muy buena y alta fidelidad, pero siento que se calienta en exceso y creo que a la larga esto puede perjudicar el aparato.

Elisabeth: FM works fine but AM is just static. The AM antenna supplied with the unit is useless, no matter where I place it. The product should be supplied with an outdoor AM antenna. All other functions work properly.

looking around: WARNING: This is NOT a positive review of the Onkyo TX-8050 - so if you do not care to learn from my experience..."be happy and move along..."

I pride myself in doing a lot of research when buying electronics (and many other things) - I do research for a living, I'm an analyst.

So - I saw the overwhelming number of positive reviews on this Onkyo TX-8050 here at Amazon - no reason not to believe my fellow reviewers, I'm absolutely sure that they are happy enjoying their units - I just want to talk about mine and what seems to be a common problem with these units. I did not only read the reviews in Amazon - I went further, deeper and read everything the Internet brought back to me via the search engines - everything seemed to indicate that this was an awesome unit - again, I'm pretty sure the ones that work are great - unfortunately, that is not my case, I probably did a few mistakes starting with buying a "used-very good" unit from the Amazon "warehouse deals" (which I bought from in the past with no problems) - is one of those things that nagged me at the back of my mind: "wow, this deal seems too good to be true!" - I should've pay...

BBurgDave: I purchased this receiver to replace an Onkyo TX-V940 receiver that I had paired with a couple of Cerwin-Vega VS-100 speakers (125 watts RMS @ 6 ohms), as well as a turntable and a CD player. The receiver is rated at 80 watts at 8 ohms and, according to Onkyo, it is about 100 ohms at 6 ohms. Since it is a bit less powered than my old receiver (100 watts at 8 ohms), I was a bit worried about whether or not it could handle these speakers, but I was worried for nothing as it is fine. I also purchased the Onkyo WiFi LAN adapter  Onkyo UWF-1 Wireless LAN Adapter  to go with the receiver and, as it turns out, I am mostly using it network connected. I have used it with Pandora, DLNA (to a Windows 7 computer on my home LAN) and I have also tried the free network radio with it, although I prefer Pandora. I read another reviewer who had a lot of complaints about the network features of this unit, but I have no such complaints, I am very happy with it (I set up the DLNA stuff on my computer and I set up Pandora on my computer, I don't really expect to do this on the receiver, so not a problem for me).

Regarding the power of the...
