Laura: Told with lots of humor.
Learned many things not to say or do.
America could benefit from how they treat each other. All Americans want is more, and to make people feel bad about what people don't have here.

MA.O3599: This book makes me smile all the way through. Very humorous in a Scandi way. It also is all so true! Chock full of fun stuff about everything in Norway, Denmark and Sweden and great photos. Love it

Stephen C.: I have a lot of Family in Norway- My wife I have traveled several times to the Telemark area, This book is very much spot on.
If I had to live somewhere else besides the USA it would be Norway for sure and visiting Sweden, Denmark, and Finland are on the bucket list.

cathy: A light-hearted look at three countries of Scandanavia, very funny at times, showing up differences that are only evident close up, like any countries that are tightly knit.

MV R: I’m of Spanish & German descent, but remain interested in other countries/cultures; I visited Sweden 10 years ago and loved it, only wish I could have stayed more than a few days during a layover. This book, by far, is the best guide to Scandinavian/Nordic cultures — or any culture different from mine, that I’ve ever read. It’s humorous, inventive, eloquent and the photography is breath-taking. I especially loved the recipes and tried a few! I’ve been looking into traveling to a few Nordic countries so this book was perfect for said research. Well done! Highly recommend!

Amazon Customer: Absolutely loved, reading this fantastic book on my summer holiday in Greece this year.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book layout as well as Bronte's insight to the Scandinavian cultures. She did a wonderful job in contrasting and comparing the different, countries, contexts, words and etymology. The overall book is well thought through and the team who helped input to this project should be very proud!
I would definitely recommend this book for anyone looking to understand more about the Scandinavian culture as well as getting your hands on more of Bronte Aurells work.

FFisher: Having read a few books on Hygge and Lagom I was really fascinated by the lifestyles of people living in the Scandinavian countries and why they do regularly top the happiness charts. This book takes you much deeper into the ways people live and in particular the differences between life in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. I really enjoyed this book because of the deeper and more detailed analysis and the style of writing which I found engaging. I thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in Scandinavian lifestyles but who has been left wanting more by other books.

waterijsje: It was a nicely laid out and informative book, at times funny as well. Overall it is a very good read, a good introduction to Scandinavia, but clearly written with an English speaking audience in mind. For example when it states the "best Scandinavian words with no equivalent" it should have said with no English equivalent, because for example 'Folkefest' (Norwegian for people party) is called 'volksfeest' in Dutch and means exactly the same. This alongside a few other examples that are not just seen in Scandinavia made the book lose its fifth star. Also it would have been nice if there was an index with the (otherwise lovely) pictures so you know what you're looking at.

Clecle: I love the Scandikitchen in London and as such have been following their blog for a while. I found myself coming back to some articles every now and then (because they were funny and spot on) and was happy to find some in this book in physical form. However I would like to reassure that most of the content is unique to this book and will set clear some common beliefs and assumptions about most things Scandinavian.
You will finally find out how to look Swedish (who would not want to?) and how to decorate your flat Copenhagen style. You will have the record straight on how the dating scene actually works and the social faux-pas in saunas that must be avoided. You will of course discover a lot about local traditions, food, culture, politics (and a lot more) and brush up your knowledge on their Royal families (and thus probably score extra points next time you watch ‘the chase’ or ‘eggheads’).
This book will make you chuckle but mostly feel like you are being told these stories by a cool friend who does not take herself seriously in comfortable surroundings (how hygge). Oh and the illustrations and photography are absolutely beautiful. If you love all things...
