Michael: I have punches and hammers, but rarely used them for marking a location to drill. Combining those two tools into one is a game changer, because it's much easier to use, and can be used in situations where a hammer can't (e.g. limited clearance).

It's small, compact, and easy to use one-handed. Takes up little space in the toolbox, and adds little weight. There's virtually no reason not to use it, and has become part of my drilling process.

This is well built, and feels good. The punch i received has the Neiko logo embossed on both sides of the grip. Doesn't appear to be a counterfeit, as some have reported.

computer user: The unit arrived with blades that had small imperfections that needed to be touched up in order to cleanly cut holes. I originally bought it to make gaskets. This is a hole punch, not a gasket maker. To produce a gasket you need to punch an outer ring and a centered inner ring. I tried several methods to produce a concentric, centered gasket but was unsuccesful to the standards I thought I needed. This set is great if all you want to produce is a hole and for that it is a very economical solution. If you want to produce gaskets where the center hole is actually centered, I would recommend you do what I ended up doing and buy the other set thats here on amazon that holds both the outer ring and inner ring on the same punch and that punches both in one shot.
