We tried a couple cheaper, plastic ones, but our cats wouldn't use those. They only want to drink out of this ceramic one. It's good quality and quiet. I like the purple color as well.

Love that its not plastic, overall, I empty the water every day. It gets dirty(‘ ( thought the pump would keep it cleaner). I also wipe down the whole thing when I change water. The pump and the fact that it is attached through the walk is really not practical to clean every day.

I bought this to replace my plastic pet fountain that I had for years. After some time it never really stayed clean for long so I decided to switch to a ceramic fountain. Not only is this easier to clean, it's soooooo quiet. It doesn't create a "bubbling/running water" sound and the motor is silent. Definitely a great upgrade from a plastic fountain.

This fountain is the easiest to use and clean. I've tried the plastic(hated them), the stainless steel, and the expensive ceramic one that looks like a decorative three tiered fountain. All of them had several negative aspects. I hate the lights, the endless pollution of disposable filters that don't clean the water anyway( don't buy them people!), lids that hide the water level and make filling it a pain, and noisy water splashing and noisy cheap pumps. The fountain has none of that going on- it's perfect except for the useless tiny box "filter". I use filtered water from the fridge, so you really don't need to buy those things, just keep the foam filter clean. Don't buy into the gimmick and become a part of the pollution problem. I love that the fountain is easy to assemble, clean, fill, and monitor the water level. Best of all it is QUIET and has no light! It seems to have a good pump because the flow of water is strong yet makes no noise. My cat loves drinking from the very top where the water makes a large bubbling font before it spills over to the three spouts and the water doesn't ever splash over- it's perfectly designed.
