White Stone: Only problem I had was initially getting my network to recognize it. Instructions don't tell you that you have to disable what your existing network settings are pointing to; and redirect it to your new 5g one. Then you have to allow 5g & c in the settings also. Once you are setup though it works good; and it's more stable than my previous 2.4g connection.

sts_66: Old laptop only used 2.4Ghz WiFi, bought this dual-band dongle to hopefully increase download speeds above the miserable 50 Mbps I was getting. Popped the dongle into a USB 2.0 port, Win10 assigned it drivers - plug and play - but I re-ran the speed test and still only had 50 Mbps. Put the mini-CD that comes with the dongle in the CD drive, told Win10 to look for drivers on the CD, it said "you already have the best drivers installed" - huh? So I went back to Device Manager, properties, update driver, chose "have disk", and here's where it gets tricky - you need to go to the subdirectory D:\RTLWlanU_WindowsDriver_1030.23.0502.2017_Drv_3.00.0018.L\ and select Autorun.inf - that will install the correct drivers, now I'm getting 250 Mbps via the 5Ghz band - yay! If your laptop doesn't have a DVD/CD drive you'll need to find a device that does, copy the CD to a USB thumb drive, and try installing the drivers that way - the default Windows drivers will not boost your speeds.

Olanihao: Based on Realtek chip RTL8811CU. Bought for my old raspberry Pi 3 B (1gb) + RAVPower DC/5v/2.4a Mha/h 20k powerbank to create secure VPN travel router. Installed OpenWRT 21.02.3 to 8gb SanDisk SD card by NetworkChuck tutorial. Everything was successful until I tried to install driver for this EDUP. OpenWrt doesn't have RTL8811CU library to make this dongle to work. Still trying to figure out how to install github driver to OpenWRT ("morrownr/8821cu-20210118" -github user).
Updated 06/14/2022 Didn't find out how to install driver for Raspi3. Returned to amazon. Used Medialink dongle with Ralink chipset a/g/n wifi.

pdot: My Windows PC automatically installed this w/o the CD it came with, which was great since my CD reader is busted. At first, I was getting really low rates, but then I realized I had plugged it into a USB 1.0 port. Plugging it into another port upped the speed, but it wasn’t that great. Rebooting solved it and I’m hitting a steady 50-60 Mbps and peaking at 65-70Mbps. My internet plan is only rated for 50, so that’s good enough for me. The only negative thing is that the Windows wifi signal gauge goes between 4 and 5 bars even though the PC isn’t farther than my iPad or iPhone from the router, but it doesn’t seem to affect my normal usage, so maybe the gauge is just overly sensitive.

Even more importantly, this little guy hasn’t overheated yet the several times I checked over the past 2 weeks. Still cool as of right now. I was actually afraid to buy this because I bought a TP Link one over 10 years ago for almost $30 and it got so hot, it burned my fingers when I tried to unplug it. They sent me a replacement, but that one still overheated no matter which USB port I tried it with. This was only $12. I should’ve tried this years ago instead of dealing with...

Ol' Desk Jocky: I Received this adapter and was expecting to not have any issues as I have used other models of EDUP's wifi connectors with little incident. Was opening the package and plugged it in and went to install the driver... uhhh.. no driver. Looked on the EDUP site, still no driver... Looked at the Amazon page again and down near the reviews was the phrase "Not support Linux". AAUUGGHH!! Would have helped if you had that at the top of the page.

HOWEVER, as this is a Realtek based chipset, I found an 802.11 ac driver for Realtek chips and after running the build, works like a champ. I had already installed the ad version for the previous adapter, but I wanted the button style as it is less obtrusive (and less apt to be damaged) than the stick antenna one. This is on a repurposed laptop (7 year old i3) that I have resurrected with Linux. It travels a little bit, so the compact nature of the adapter is most useful.

I am going to continue to purchase this family of adapters as they seem to be reliable, but please make sure to note the supported OS's near the top of the page, especially the non-supported ones?

Thanks.
