Alice Franklin: The third outing for Charlotte and Wrexford, as she is forced to confront and reveal her past, whilst trying to save a condemned man's life.
Her wonderfully disparate and loveable found-family are expanded by real relatives as they work to uncover events to find the murderer - Lady Peake is certainly going to add some enjoyable ascerbic wit to this group of C19th Scoobies!
And as the slowest slow burn romance inches a few steps forward, I'm ready to find out what happens in the next book!

AnneFran727: After completing a delightful series of Deanna Raybourn novels on Audible (the Lady Julia and the Veronica Speedwell series) I decided to try my luck with Andrea Penrose.

Unfortunately the narrator Ms Penrose chose was not as enthralling as the other series. I had a terrible time getting the gist of the story and would tune out at times and miss big pieces of plot. I began book 3 as a Kindle unlimited offer and what a difference. The plots are rather scientific in description and it clicked with my own interpretation rather than listening to the story. Ms Penrose likes to switch the narrative from Wrexford to Sloane in the same chapter; this didn’t present well on Audible but was great just reading the text.

I like the slow build of the relationships in the books, not just with the lead characters but with the supporting house staffers, the relations, and the police. I do find at times Lady Charlotte is an odd adoptive parent as she has the boys taking lessons and dressing properly but often lets them run the London streets in the middle of the night to do her errands. They don’t mention the age of the children but I assume
It’s maybe 12 for Raven and 10 for...

Sophia Rose: Lord Wrexford and Mrs. Sloane find themselves pairing up once again when a hideous murder is too close to home for Charlotte and the clock is ticking down on saving the one accused of murder. Regency Era murder mysteries with a blend of science and art, bevy of engaging characters, slow-burn romance and well-crafted plots draw me in each time.

Murder at Kensington Palace is the third in the series that could be read standalone in a pinch, but with ongoing series plot threads related to the relationships developing, works best read in order.

Not surprisingly, after the big moment of understanding and the kiss when they survived their last adventure and long with her surprise reveal about her past, Wrexford and Mrs. Sloane pull back and need some time to regroup. There is a crackling tension between them as a result.

Meanwhile, a gathering of scientific minds at the Royal Duke of Sussex’s party ends in a grisly murder that bears some resemblance to a couple earlier murders where the killer took away a slice of their victim. Except this time, the victim is an aristocrat and has a twin brother accused of the crime. Charlotte Sloane knows both and rushes in to...

erinaf: I'd rate this 4.5 as I found it a tiny bit more predictable than the previous two books to hand out a full 5 stars, but I still enjoyed it. When Sloane's childhood friend and cousin, Nicky, stands accused of his twin brother's murder and is thrown into Newgate prison, she turns to the Earl of Wrexford to help her prove his innocence. Drawn into yet another investigation filled with mystery and intrigue, sinister forces are at work hinting at nefarious Science experiments based around life and death instigated by a dangerous group whose way of thinking was almost cult-like. With the usual gang around to help out, Wrexford and Charlotte must pull out all the stops to solve the crime before her cousin is set to hang. Charlotte is also faced with a difficult decision: Is she willing to risk her safe, anonymous existence by stepping into the limelight and the demands of the aristocracy and once again wear her title as a Lady in order to help her friend escape the noose?

Once again, there's a great intertwining of Science and Art, melding Wrexford's and Charlotte's talents perfectly. There's a good amount of fact regarding scientific thought and theory of the time, with the right...

Book Nut: Love this series, and this entry was no disappointment. Love the characters and ongoing development for all of them, not just the two main leads. I can't wait to read more. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys mystery, or historical mystery.

Apples: I found W & S as a free books and could not wait for the next (this one) so pre ordered as soon as I saw it. Just love the way the author uses the emerging science of the era and links the social mores of the day with the political & social commentator of the day. That is the Earl (Wrexford) and the Staterist (Sloane) as the murder investigators. Recommend starting with book one and following the theme that threads its way through all 3 books. Can not wait for the next.

Andrea Humphries: I read Murder at Kensington Palace more or less in one sitting on a lazy Saturday. I loved the character development, not just for Wrexford and Sloane - although that was very satisfying, but also for the cast of secondary characters. I didn't quite enjoy the mystery in this entry as much as in the previous books, but the conclusion was very well done. As always, Penrose offers a fascinating glimpse at the state of science and scientific inquiry at a time when so many new discoveries were being made. I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment.
