RWT: I purchased 2 of these lights for around the outside of my house. They detect motion very well and are very bright. I found mounting them a bit difficult, but I guess that depends if you are mounting them on a wall or a ceiling. I was mounting on a ceiling area outside which proved to be difficult. I am a bit disappointed that they don't have rechargeable batteries. I guess we will have to see how long the D batteries last.

Victor Meldrew Mk2: I like LED lights but I do feel that they are overrated for use outdoors as whilst the light is bright at the source and they use very little power, the coverage and light on the ground is nowhere near as good as a proper bulb.
I purchased this item to supplement a PIR activated tungsten bulb which lights up the 4 steps leading down to our house. Unfortunately due to the location of the tungsten lamp the PIR does not activate quickly enough for the brisk and unaware visitor to our house and whilst we have not had anyone have an accident, my wife was sufficiently concerned for me to seek an additional lamp. I spotted this item on Amazon and decided that at the price it would probably be ideal, particularly as I did not wish to run additional cabling and as it is on a north facing wall there would be insufficient light for a solar panel powered light.
Out of the box, I inserted 3 D cell batteries, which adds considerably to the cost as they are not supplied and as Duracell only market their product in pairs or greater numbers I have one left over. I located the item under the eaves to keep it out of the weather, but because the sensor has to be above the lamp I had to...

MD: We have an area at our office building, an upper deck with entryway, that has no outside light. We could get something wired in, but not very easily, given that it is a cinder block building and there isn't any wiring close to draw from, plus, it's the hassle of installation, and another light to forget to leave on or forget to turn off. So, this seemed ideal -- a motion activated porch light for the times we are accessing that door, after dark, which happens frequently for our later shift. I mounted this right in the upper corner of the rather wide wooden door sill (so I didn't have to deal with the cinder block), and it's a gem! Works GREAT!
The outside security lighting we have does not reach that doorway, so, even though our back parking lot is fairly well lit, this light still pops on reliably whenever we are using that upstairs back door at night. The only issue we had was that, if the inside upstairs was well lit, then, when you opened the door from the inside, at night, this light did not kick on, because there was too much light coming through the windows of the door itself, and so the sensor did not sense enough darkness to know to turn the light on, when motion...

Jesse R. Tolliver: I have only had this for a few days, but so far I am impressed with it. The light, while not flood light strength, but then what would you expect from such a small light, is surprisingly bright. I will see how it does as the batteries start to wear out. I read a lot of negative reviews about it not being waterproof, and I can't comment on that as it hasn't rained since I have had it. I do have it installed under somewhat of an overhang. The only reasons I am giving it 4 versus 5 stars is for the mounting and the motion sensor. Well, I say mounting, but I guess it is just the overall design of the light. It can be hard to mount in such a way to get the proper angle you want on the light, yet keep the sensor on top (as is recommended in the instructions). As for the motion sensor, the product literature says it can detect motion as far as 30 feet away with 180 degrees of vision. Yes, I would say that is true, especially the part about 180 degree field of vision. It is surprisingly sensitive to close range motion as you approach from the side. It is also especially sensitive to detecting light. When my headlights come into the field of view as I pull into the driveway they are...
