Get your 1 pair now and upgrade your bike!Art L: The springs in my old linear pull brakes were difficult to adjust and already had many good years on them so I needed a good replacement. I purchased these and they arrived on time and went in without any issue. They will last for many years to come. I’m an avid rider and perform all of my own bike repairs (and have done so for over 30 years). I put on about 100 miles a week on my bike and these will do the job well. I can’t comment on the brake pads (which came with the set), as I used longer pads which I already had on my bike prior to the replacement. In summary, they fit, they adjust well, they work.

Laurent: Fast delivery (ordered 31 October, delivered 11 November, much faster than the amazon-estimates delivery deadline). Ordered for my bike rejuvenation project (rebuilding an 1997 Kona Lava Dome). Installation was very straightforward, though I've experience with bike wrenching. Regardless, with some internet tutorials, they will install just fine. These are solidly built and a bit on the heavy side, but that's not a big deal unless you're racing, which I will not be with this bike. As others have commented, I replaced the stock pads with some higher end ones, but for casual use, the stock pads would be fine. I would recommend these brakes for anyone needing replacement on their low- mid-range bike.

Tim W.: These went on a large 3G Bikes Venice Cruiser with large Wald racks front & rear that I use as a cargo bike. It's a heavy steel framed bike made heavier by baskets & cargo. They are great stoppers. The only problem I ran into is that their arms are a bit shorter than the ones that came on the bike originally. This lead to a clearance issue between the rear brake and fender. I had to thermoform a relief in the planet bike fender to allow for proper brake function. I don't know if it's these brakes or the brake levers that I installed at the same time but the combination stops my bike far better than the OEM parts.

David: A couple of months ago I decided to refurbish a bicycle I bought back in 2008 from Costco. It was a Schwinn with Shimano parts all around. I rode it for a while as it was my main mode of transportation before getting a car and then it sat outside a lot, which did not do good to the body or the parts. I sanded everything down and repainted the main frame but needed to replace pretty much everything else.
My old front brakes never worked right from day one. The right side would always get stuck and made my front brakes almost unusable. I got this to replace them and keep the whole "red bike" but "black parts" theme going on and it worked pretty well. Installation was very simple. and adjustment works the same way as any other bike brakes. I did have an issue with one of the arms' adjustment bolt being so tight I couldn't unscrew it (the bolt stripped) and had to get a replacement from Amazon, but after that it worked great on both the front and the rear brakes.

Amazon Customer: Put these on a kid's bike to replace some other generic V brakes from years ago. Keep in mind this is a less than $20 brake mechanism that comes with pads so expectations should be reasonable (I usually spend close to this on brake pads alone). For some reason people expect a high end Shimano component when buying a low cost generic component - baffling? The spring box is plastic but I don't see that being a big problem. Kit came with lots more hardware than I expected, new mounting bolts with lock-tite already applied, new cable guides and new rubber covers for the exposed cable. Installed fine, I adjusted the tensioners and was able to balance the levers to keep a nice equal gap when released. The pin which sets the back pressure is metal (another review said it was plastic, that would have been a non-starter but it was metal on mine). I'm not expecting miracles from a low cost kit like this but it seems fine. My background is commuting to work and I've always done all the work on my family's bikes. Would I buy this for my commute, no, but for one of the kid bikes that is used once a weekend when it's nice - yes.

SCSC: I was restoring a 2009 Specialized Hotrock 24 and the brake hardware was in bad shape. When this kit arrived, I was very pleased (see photo of old and new brake arms, side by side).
While the installation was easy, I did run into a situation with the suspension fork, that you may (or may not run into).
If you are not familiar with Vbrakes, the arms have mounting bolts that screw into studs that stick out from the fork and rear frame. Typically, the studs are either screwed or welded into the fork and frame.
When I removed the brake arms from this Specialized Hotrock, Suntour fork, the mounting studs came off with the brake arms as an assembly. At first, I thought I purchased the wrong brake arm kit. But, after a closer look I figured out what the situation was.
If you look at the "cutaway" photo ( I cut a small section out of the brake arm to show the assembly), you will see that the mounting screw goes through a brass ferrule into the mounting stud. When you remove the brake arm, the mounting screw and stud spin freely in the brass ferrule and the stud comes out of the front fork. Without the stud, you can't mount the new brake arms... and the way it's...
