PSebelist: I had to stop in the middle of the job to share my experience. In a word ... WOW! When I bought this house 16 years ago, I said the base moldings in the living and dining rooms needed to be replaced (actually, they all need to be replaced). 15 layers of paint meant the profiles had disappeared and it was impossible to cut-in the walls. I'm finally getting around to it. Using a wide MDF mounding and shoe. I have bought and tried a half dozen different products to fill the nail holes. I wish I had tried this one first! Holes disappear. Went back over holes filled with other products and they disappeared. Miter joints on the shoe mouldings disappeared. All with minimal effort. WOW!

The Mohawk Fil-stick white putty is a great solution for filling punch-sunk nail holes on white PVC or polystyrene trim. I installed a PVC trim to frame bathroom wall mirrors because it is impervious to water. It gas a nice satin white finish, matching my bathroom cabinets, so I didn't want to paint it. I saw helpful reviews that said the product works fine, if you follow the simple directions, which I found to be true, with one minor issue.
The first photo shows a nail sunk using a nail punch. This is necessary as the putty will not properly cover a nail head above the trim surface.
Initially, I tried using the putty stick directly on the trim but found that I had trouble removing the excess putty from the face of the trim, maring the trim finish. So, I used a hole punch to make a hole in painter's tape and placed in over the nail hole. Then I rubbed the putty stick over the nail hole until it was completely filled. Next, I removed the tape (6th photo). Following the directions, I used a credit card the remove the excess putty and then rubbed the surface with a rag, leaving a barely perceivable repair of the nail hole, without having to paint the...

S. Olsen: Save your money. These don't do a very good job filling nail holes. You go over the nail hole and the stuff falls out and onto the floor. Good concept, too bad it doesn't work.

Tara T.:
We refinished our floors and had to reinstall the shoe molding. We used this filler stick to fill in the nail holes. It was quick and easy, though a little messy. It leaves small bits on the floor from the rubbing.
It worked great on the smaller shallower holes, but it did show small indentations on the larger deeper holes once we painted.

Suz: This is so hard that it pulls any paint around it off. It’s clumpy and pretty much useless.

Chris Burpee: This was recommended to me by my cabinet installer for fixing small blemishes and scratches on our painted wood cabinets. It does a great job on small damages to solid wood.

Bg22: I've used this on some of my distressed white farm house dining chairs and on my white railings where the paint had chipped. It covers quite well but requires a bit of elbow grease. This will work depending on the type of material you are using it on. That being said, if it's used in a high traffic area you will need to reapply it as it tends to rub off.
