I bought this expecting to be disappointed. I was wrong. It was easy to put together. It's not heavy. It's VERY sturdy. It doesn't take up much space and its great for small children. I have a 2 year old on the bottom and a 4 year old on the top. They fell in love with it AS SOON as it was completed. I gave it 5 stars because of my needs for the product. It's perfect for what I need.
I do have one complaint! The ladder is cheap and completely vertical. My 4 year old can use it but complained. He was uncomfortable getting down using it. The 2 year old loves to climb and climbs into a 6 foot playhouse with ease using a slanted ladder. He could not climb this ladder on the bed. I was uncomfortable with him attempting to climb it as well. So I build the stairs in the corner for them to get up and down safely out of 2x6 lumber. The ladder is my only complaint. Well worth the purchase if you can add an additional stair/ladder for the upper bunk.

The bed was what I expected. Adding the side rails was a little difficult, you have to insert a threaded dowel-type nut into a hole that is poorly bored and install a bolt from the backside of the head/footboard. This is a little tricky, make sure you insert the “nut” in the same orientation in which it was removed. Mattresses can only be 75”x35.5” MAX. I am using memory foam mattresses and have added 2x4s as slats in 7 locations between the provided slats. The provided slats are 1.75”. 2x4s are 1.5” but I don’t find the 0.25” difference to matter. I wouldn’t add plywood since it increases the height of the mattress.
It took me about 3 hours to assemble alone. Also, install the provided slats with the bed assembled as a bunk (if that’s your end goal). Start by installing the top bunk slats from the head/footboard ends, working to the middle. The two middle slats have pre-installed pegs, so they just set in place. Then do the same for the bottom bunk. The instructions were a little vague here.
I find the wood quality and sturdiness acceptable, especially for the price. The box is very heavy so expect a little damage to the box. You will...

Little Miss Me:
I bought this bed for my 2 older sons 8 and 4). This bed is perfect! My husband said it was a little hard to put together because of the stickers that came on each piece (they were confusing). It took him about 4 hours to assemble. The wood slats that it comes with are very spaced apart so you will need a sturdy base, we went with bunkie boards and they work great!
The bed comes in one long box (it’s quite heavy). I didn’t have the same problem some of the other reviewers had with the bed being damaged. All of our pieces were in working order. We ordered the twin over twin mocha colored. The color is darker in person but it’s looks really nice and the wood is very quality.
I think the only things I’d recommend are a sturdy base for the mattress, and some grip tape for the bunk bed ladder as it is quite slippery!
This is an awesome bed and I’m really happy with my purchase!

jessi r murphyjessi r murphy: On man. When you start connecting the sides to the head and foot boards it is SOO hard to get the pieces to line up to screw it in. I had to dig some of them because the hole wasn’t big enough to put the small piece in then had to line it up with the screw from the other direction. BUTTTT that was the only annoying part. Directions were easy to follow and the rest of the bed was easy to put together. And it’s very sturdy! I was surprised. It’s short and adorable

Talor Wilber: Newly single mom and bought these for my toddler boys. 2 year old on bottom and 4 year old up top! They love them and there is plenty of room to grow as they are standard twin beds. Also think it’s supper cool that they separate to single twin beds so later on I don’t have to buy new beds if they get their own rooms! My only complaint is I’m missing 2 piece to put the front rail on the top bunk. I searched the box 800 time they were not in it but I had a toddler bed rail from Walmart and it works for now til I get the parts
