AnnieR: What can I say? This is a children’s classic. But I bought it for my sister. Because she loves to garden and take long walks along the shore.

GrahamsMum: Every child in Maine should read this book, and then plan a visit to the Children's Garden at the Boothbay Botanical Gardens, where there's a topiary of Miss. Rumphius!

Lindsay Ann Comeau: Judging by the cover and synopsis of the book, I expected a story centered around nature and gardening, not so. The book describes an immigrant grandfather (who, for no reason at all, is given a job as a cigar shop "Indian" carver), who instructs his granddaughter to do something to make the world more beautiful. Great! Well, the little girls wants to travel instead, which is what she does and only when she hurts her back and is thus unable to travel anymore, does she settle down and remember what her grandfather told her...by now she is an old lady. Why did she wait that long?? She plants seeds and the lupine get carried by the wind and birds and spread. But she gets known to be "that crazy old lady" (so creating beautiful things or adding beauty to the world, is perceived as crazy?). Again, the wording here is so strange and the story not at all centered on what I thought it would be. Very dissappointed. Will be returning it.

Catherine Dempsey: I bought this title many years ago for my own children. And now I bought it to read to a great niece. I love the adventures Miss Rumphius had in her lifetime. Now that I am old and gray, I love her as she gets old. And, the great contribution of spreading lupin seeds and creating lasting beauty is a wonderful message for our young people.

kittys Mom: I had bought this book for 280 Rupees from Amazon with good packing. One could get this book for 250 or below as the priced showed less within a weeks of my purchase best read aloud for 5 years and up has got vast vocabulary but difficult to be compreheded and to gain attention under 5 year old.
Miss Rumphius is Take home message book with beautiful illustrations of having a home by a sea side, pictures speak volumes. Miss Rumphius is about a little girl who wants to do three things 1. To live by sea side 2. To go to faraway places 3. To make the world more beautiful as suggested by her grand father. Its a nice book to share with litl ones the pictures and talk about the adventures of going to different places as in this book Rumphius visits Tropical islands, Snow mountain trekking and later on settles by the sea side and discovers her idea of growing Lupine flower plants around the highways, schools and make the world beautiful and the content ends where Miss Rumphius conversing with group of children and her neice telling her the same things as Miss Rumphius wanted to do and passes down her Grandpa instinct To do something to make world more beautiful and her neice realizes...
