meross 2-Socket Outdoor Wi-Fi Smart Plug for Easy Remote Control of Lights and Devices

Dragan: I bought long time ago Meross smart strip and smart bulbs,never had problems and decide to buy this Meross outdoor plug as well.
Rectangular shape (approx 2.7x 5x 1.5'') and around 7.5'' long cable .Solid, well built (not cheap plastic) and feel durable. Plug has two sockets and each socket has own switch in the app. Plug is waterproof IP44 , even plug bottom has 5 screws and they have rubber cover .You can close sockets as well if you don't use them.
As i said i had already experience with Meross so setup was very easy but even if this is your first Meross device don't worry ,just follow app instruction (Meross app) ,very simple.
After setup you can instal Alexa Meross skill ,link your Meross account and ask Alexa to discover devices,after that you simply use voice to turn on/off plug or using app set schedule to turn on/off(you don't need anymore old fashion timer). .Make sure each socket has different name.Plug respond very well to Alexa commands and working also with Google home.
Usually Meros devices has strong wifi reception ,even outside . Same with this plug ,very strong signal i didn't experience any connectivity problem. Plug like all other wifi devices...

Mr. Dresden: I was very skeptical when I placed my order for the very first Meross brand smart device, thinking "how can this thing possibly be any good when it costs so much less than its competition?" Whatever the reason, it is great. The device works as good if not better than the hub-free TP-Link smart plugs I have, yet it was just about half the price.

Which leads to this. This is the first outdoor smart device I have tried. Dual outlet and weather resistant, I was definitely on board. Being able to create a routine, to tell my Google Assistant to switch to my outdoor relaxing mode, is amazing. On my back deck, we have two different lighting options, both of which do not play nicely with each other. The first, and used most, is the standard dusk til dawn outdoor security lights, to help ward off would be burglars. The other being a series of comfortable warm-colored lights we switch to when we are out relaxing on the deck in the warm summer evenings. Normally, the switch is done manually, flipping one set of lights off, then walking over and flipping the other on. mycodex: I needed to create a timer for my outdoor patio lights, but none of the timers I could find were small enough and waterproof. The smart wifi plug was exactly what I needed and it tucked in neatly into my outlet box. I'm able to control 2 lights independently. The best part is I no longer have to bend over behind the patio furniture to turn on the lights using the Google home integration. I've had this product for over 6 months and have never had an issue with the wifi connection, even though my access point is on the 3rd floor and I regularly lose power where I live. I've since bought multiple other meross products because they are reliable and the app makes setup a breeze. I have my whole house programmed so when I get home, it's nicely lit up both inside and outside. I would recommend this for anything looking to design a reliable smart home without needing a hub like other products. There's no limit to what you can automated!

RobRob: I bought this for several reasons, all of which worked out as expected. First, I wanted something to control the de-icing cables installed on my roof, second, I wanted a to automate my exterior Christmas lights, and third, I wanted a timer for the block heater on my truck, this device did all that for me, although only 2 at a time.

I've got it mounted outside, up in my eaves, well away from my wireless router but have had no problems with connectivity; follow the instructions and set it up inside where it has a strong signal and it will remember its home network and stay connected outside. Although the app that comes with the timer allows you to program it, I'm using Alexa to control the timer. Each plug is separately configurable so you can plug two devices in and have them independently controlled, plus you can tell Alexa to turn them off or on whenever you wish, or use the app that you'l need to set up in order to get it configured. Either way, this is a winner!

The only issue I have is I wish I could apply more logic to the routines, an if-then statement that would allow me to say that 'If the temperature rises above -5C, then power the de-ice cables from...

JonJon: We purchased this smart outdoor plug to replace a non-smart remote outdoor plug that was acting up after 7 years of use. We mainly used the non-smart plug in December to remotely control our outdoor Christmas lights. We'll be using this smart plug for the same purpose.

Setup was fairly simple with exception that the smart plug had trouble connecting to our WiFi network initially. After a few minutes of unplugging and replugging the smart plug and fiddling with the app, I got it connected to the WiFi network.

After the WiFi connection was setup, I was able to connect the smart plug to Google Home to allow voice control. This was extremely simple to do. We (and anyone outside with a good set of lungs) are now able to tell Google to turn on the Christmas lights from the comfort of our home (or outside).

The main feature why we purchased this plug was the schedule. With the previous outdoor plug, we needed to turn it off manually before going to bed. However, there were times everyone would forget and then we'd leave the Christmas lights on all night. The scheduling feature solves all these problems. Couldn't a 'dumb' timer plug do the same thing? Sure. But who...

Reiggin Hilderbrand: I've purchased Wemo plugs for indoors and this one from Meross is so much easier and more reliable than those. Setup was super simple. Downloaded the app, connected to WiFi, and was up and running in less than 5 minutes.

I love that it has two independent switches. I can plug in two different sets of lights into the same outlet and control each individually. There was no issue changing the default names of each switch and the changes too effect immediately for all my Echo devices.

Speaking of Echo devices and Alexa, it was refreshing to see how easy it was to integrate with Alexa. I added the skill easily and I was up and running. This contrasts sharply with my Wemo plugs that often loose connection and seem to have more lag. There's no lag with the Meross outlet and it never fails to connect.

I have the outlet outdoors and it seems to have a great connection despite being further from my wireless router than other devices. While I can't test the strength of the signal, I have no concerns about it.

My only wish is that they'd also add HomeKit (Apple) compatibility. There's just not enough outdoor devices that support HomeKit and the ones that are...

Jim R: If things change I will update my review, however, I just received the device and I realized that there is little or no customer support among other issues. Here are some of my experiences. As part of the initial setup I created my account to allow me to login and change settings etc. I did the initial setup of the account on my Samsung Tablet (Android 8) and so far that went okay. Then I picked up another one of my devices, downloaded the Meross app and proceeded to login to the account that I created, it said the account didn't exist despite that I checked on the initial Samsung device and I was looking at the account details. So, I said okay I will give the benefit of the doubt and change the password and try again so I clicked on the "Forgot Password" It said it sent me a verification code, but I did not receive the verification code and tried several times and the same result, NO CODE. Now I either have to try and totally reset the unit and create a new account which will give trouble because it will tell me the email account already exists so I will be forced to create a new email to use to try the account again. There are zero phone contacts to call, at least in North...

Terry W Jones: I was impressed with another Meross WiFi smart plug so I went ahead and ordered two of these so that I can control outdoor devices such as Christmas lights, Halloween lights and even a bird bath heater in winter (I live in Canada).

I really like these devices. They were easy to add using the Meross app. Once added, they were immediately accessible to my home automation system using Amazon Alexa and work flawlessly.

Each unit has two outlets and from the app or from Amazon Alexa (Echo Dot) you can control either both outlets at once or each outlet individually.

There is a button on the unit that lets you turn it on and off manually as well. This button also has LEDs behind it that tell you the status. When you turn the two outlets on and off individually each outlet has an indicator LED that shows the status nicely.

Firmware updates for the Meross devices is also very simple. Unlike other devices that I have, when you update the firmware, when they are finished they return to the state they were in before the update. I have Wemo devices and they are always OFF after an update.

These don't cost much of anything more than a simple remote controlled...
