Dave: This is a must have for items that don't have switches to keep from arcing damage to the plug, like on a hot air popper. Also good for your router that sometimes needs to be reset. Buy several you'll find lots of uses.
All outlets in the UK have switches, the US needs these as well.

Texfun738: I wish I had purchased this years ago. it was a real hassle to plug/unplug my Cuisinart toaster (since that was the only way to turn it off) and this solution was so simple.
I decided on THIS switch because:
1) It is UL listed, AND for 1800 watts (and I verified this product on the UL website)
2) Off is 'off' - no power running a gimmick lighted switch
Too many reviews of the 'cheap' switches reported burned/melted units - which claim to be ETL listed and rated for 1475 watts . (My toaster has 1500 watts stamped on the bottom although my clamp meter showed it was pulling less.) For me, this switch being UL listed is important - it means it is a product that meets specific safety standards after undergoing rigorous testing.
