amanda: I had the hardest time cutting homemade loaves of crusty, artisan bread with my old bread knife. My old knife destroyed the bread and I could only cut thick slices to avoid it completely falling apart. This knife cuts very nicely and even allows me to cut thin slices with ease. No more destroyed bread! The price point was also very affordable compared to many other brands on the market. I am very happy with this bread knife!

Crabman: At first glance, I thought this knife was flimsy and hard to work with. Once I tried it on home made sound dough bread with crust like tree barks, I’ve come to really appreciate it. So far, I’ve provided five of these puppies to friends and family. I know one of my friends was impressed enough to buy one for another friend. I feel I should get a commission :-)

Steven: I'd buy this again if I had to but since it's still holding up great hopefully I'll never have to. I'm more than satisfied with this purchase. Still fairly sharp, no rust (we wash it by hand), the blade is firm and not loose.

If you're planning on washing it in the washing machine you might end up with different results.

JMAJMA: Both myself and my wife love this bread knife (unusual since we tend to have different preferences for kitchen knives).

It feels very natural to hold (we wear men's small and women's large sized gloves so unsure if this holds true for people with especially large or small hands). The handle is comfortable and doesn't feel slick.
It is fairly light weight, not so much that it feels fragile/flimsy, but it doesn't feel like it wants to squish our bread like our old knife does.
It cuts well and the offset handle makes cutting bread easier (I would not have thought it would feel so much more natural before trying this one).
Despite it feeling like the color coding the company suggests for the handle colors is a scheme to convince people to buy additional knives they may not actually need, I do find it useful that it comes with a good selection of different handle colors so you can pick a color that will be easy to pick out on the knife block should you like (we went with purple and it's does make it easy to pick out this knifes handle at a quick glance).
The $20 price tag is acceptable for a serrated blade that will be very difficult to sharpen so it is less painful...

brett williams: the mercer is a decent knife for chefs . i use this most day it slices thinly through tomato and vegetables
obviously you dont want this for carving meat
for prepping for the day ahead everyday the mercer has never let me down
i would perhaps buy a knife wrap to keep your knifes away from everyone elses. as you dont want this one cluttering around the drawer as it will blunt it
i give this knife a 8/10 only because its cheap and there are better much more expensive knifes . but for the money . you wont find better.
the choice is mercer or victoria nox
