Charles Salmans: Mother (or another adult) is always going to protect you. Great message to reinforce a child's feeling of security. And wonderfully illustrated.

kelseyd524: My son loved it, but I might have loved it more. Made me tear up while reading.

CL3: I bought this for our mischievous grandson. He’s the kid that climbs on things he shouldn’t, throws things he shouldn’t… so he’s our runaway kid. When something breaks or someone cries… he runs away and hides because he ultimately is the instigator! What a great story at the end of the day to remind him he is LOVED and we WILL hunt him down for a hug and have him make things right.

Resurgam: Classic children's book. In print constantly since 1947. Speaks volumes (no pun intended). I really enjoyed reading it. I'm 65 years old. A really quick read, I read it in under 5 minutes even though it says 5-7 years.
A warning though - keep a box of tissues handy, it's a tear-jerker.

CMD: My 9-month-old is positively captivated by this book, as well as the others that accompany this series of board books. Her face lights up when I read it to her, and she makes babbling sounds of joy whenever she sees the bunny in the story on the brightly illustrated page. The shipping time for this item was fantastic, and although the book was purchased not new it was in excellent condition! I’ve ordered more board books by this author to complete the series.

BookwyrmBookwyrm: The Runaway Bunny is a timeless classic, proven by the fact that the hardback I just bought for my niece was the 75th anniversary edition. While I know probably hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of children have read The Runaway Bunny by now, including my own, a scene that is indelibly etched in my memory is of a retreat where I witnessed a man read this book to a room of 50 or 60 women. These woman were so focused, intent, and moved by this book that you could have heard a pin drop from the moment the gentleman started reading until he finished. There weren’t many dry eyes in the place as the women related to the type of love that follows and waits for the loved one to turn back to them. It is a love that waits and watches, never forcing itself upon another, but patiently and diligently keeps guard and maintains a place of safety for the loved one’s return.

That’s the magic of this story which was written three-fourths of a century before helicopter parenting was a thing. This isn’t helicopter parenting, but it’s what safe parenting ought to be. The mother rabbit knows that the child needs to run away, to practice independence, to be free to make...
