Aislinn Wren: I got this as a gift for a friend named Mandy. She says the recipes are actually really great too. Added bonus. Haha

lotianne: Aside from the delicious content printed inside - the quality of paper stock this is published on compliments the overall charm of the book and is perfectly representative of their quaint restaurants. The linen cover gives it an upscale feel. It is a beautiful giftable book for the healthy foodie in your life or for someone just interested in reading a little about the starting journey and conception of the Mandy's restaurants.

BBud: I purchased this because I wanted to eat healthier lunches at work. Salads can get boring if you lack imagination - Mandy’s to the rescue! Most of the recipes I’ve tried have been winners, combining ingredients I wouldn’t have thought of on my own. Definitely a good recipe book if you are looking for salad inspiration!

hpbelle_1975: Some of the comments about the index and how to navigate this book (and its sequel) made me think a little bit longer about ordering these, but I've bought both and read through them and I'm keeping them.
First up, I've found criticisms of the Index to be invalid; if you know the name of the recipe you're looking for, each recipe is listed by name in the Contents at the front of the book, in Chapter, with page number. The Index follows the same format as all the other cookbooks I own - individual ingredients are listed alphabetically, and the recipes in which they appear are listed below them, by title, with page numbers. So if you don't like the Index in the "Mandy's" cookbooks, then you don't like the Index in *any* cookbook.
Secondly, yes, the recipes for the salad dressings are listed separately from the recipe for the rest of the salad, in their own chapter, and some dressings do use another dressing recipe as a "base" to which you add more ingredients. This would indeed be bothersome to people who want everything all on one page, but I think it's a space saver, considering that individual dressings are used in multiple salads. It's also less visually...

Bb: I use this book primarily for the dressings and sometimes refer to the salads. The dressings are great and whenever I make one for a party, I am always asked for the recipe.
However, the index of this book is absolutely useless. You can’t look up salads or dressings by their names, and only select ingredients make it into the index. Ex. To find “Vinny’s vinaigrette” you can find it by looking up Mayonnaise, but not Oregano (the predominant flavour of the dressing) and not Vinny.
Also, the dressings should indicate which salad they are used for, but they don’t. You have to look through all of the salads to find the dressing in question.
I’m probably not going to buy the new book, because it seems like it’s mostly filler recipes, but I sincerely hope that they fixed their index issues.

Danielle Klompmaker: Great recipes - no doubt about that. It gets you out of a salad rut!! However this book has its issues. This book is it’s poorly laid out for the home cook who doesn’t have the entire wheelhouse of ingredients on hand or already prepped.
Let me enlighten you.
For one dressing in the recipe book:
Dressing Recipe A: makes 2 cups (A)
- 1 cup of dressing recipe B (B)
- 1 cup of dressing recipe D (D)
—————————
Dressing Recipe B: makes 2 cups (B)
- ingredients
- 1 cup syrup C (C)
—————————
syrup C recipe : makes 1.25 cups (C)
*but remember you only need 1 cup (0.8 of the recipe) to use in B*
- ingredients
—————————
Dressing Recipe D: makes 2 cups (D)
- ingredients
—————————
so to make Dressing A:
B=ingredients + 0.8C -> 2 cups recipe, need 1 cup
D=ingredients -> 2 cups recipe, need 1 cup
A= 0.5(B ingredients) + 0.4C + 0.5(D ingredients)
to complicate matters further, the ingredients between B and D are sometimes mutual, so you have to add and divide to get the correct proportion.
and, furthermore, this dressing is used in...

J-P: A few years ago, we arrived in Montreal having flown in from Great Britain and after checking in at the hotel in the old quarter and very tired and jet lagged, our family stumbled on Mandy’s cafe / restaurant at around midnight (body clock). The place was absolutely beautiful inside and the food was just what we needed.
When I looked up Mandy’s on their website for inspiration, I found a hardback book was available and having purchased, it is so well presented, just like the food in their restaurants. I would highly recommend purchase.

Anna: I feel better when I eat ample produce but was stuck in a veggie rut. I ordered a few salad "cook"books and Mandy's blew the others out of the water. These salads and dressings are delicious, amazing, and easily customizable. I haven't tried any of the smoothie or baked goods recipes but I sure as heck ordered the sequel and can't wait to get started with that one. (Gotta try Mandy's Lumberjack Salad before I move on to the next book.)
Kinda makes me want to move to Canada so I can patronize their salad shops.
