BalgarFung: This is good value for the money. never tried this before so we did not want to spend money on an expensive unit. works well. probably why it is a favorite of buyers. if you were doing large volumes, it would be a little on the small side however 2 or 3 of these at the same time still might be a solution with economy in mind.

Haven Cribbs: I am loving this. I wanted to make my own dog and cat because it's cheaper and I know what's going into them. I've been using this to dehydrate chicken so far and it's perfect. It's also super easy to clean. It says it's dishwasher safe, so I've been putting them in the top and bottom racks of the dishwasher and haven't had any trouble.

J & L: This is my very first dehydrator and let me tell you how amazing this is. So easy to use, clear and guided instructions, extremely easy to clean (a dream actually) and it very quiet. I have used it for over 50 hours now and am super happy with this as my fist experience with such a product. I would recommend this product. After each use, I soak the trays in some soapy water and no scrubbing is required. I prefer the metal mesh wire trays to plastic any day. If you're a first timer, then this is the right choice.

Rodolfo: Today I made my first round of beef jerky with this dehydrator, and it worked like a champ. The jerky came out perfectly cooked and dried after the suggested 5 hours per the manual and instructions that came with this dehydrator. Tomorrow I will test it with some fruits. For the price and the performance, I can't complain, i was going to spend a lot more on a much more expensive unit when I decided to give this one a shot. And aside from the capacity, which is pretty much the only big difference between this 5-tray unit and one with 7-8 trays, this one works very well fully loaded with meat. I don't know how long it will last, but my guess is that if you keep it clean and don't abuse it, it will last you a long time.

Kevin N.: Reviewed at $47.99 U.S. I was looking at more expensive models but opted for this one, as my volume isn't high enough to justify those over a hundred dollars. I thought it would just heat and radiate from the bottom with no fan. However, it does have a fan, so doesn't require rotating trays like one I had several years ago.
I've only used mine to dehydrate Carolina Reaper peppers to grind into powder. I usually do two layers(on the front porch) for the default 10 hours @ 158 degrees and usually run a second 10 hour session to complete. It might take less than 20 hours time but I just push start a second time and let it go and they are always done at the end of 20 hours.
I might try something else but we have a convection oven that has a dehydrate feature. I bought this exclusively so I can dehydrate hot peppers, as they kind of nuke your indoor air for the first 4 hours or so.

For what I do, as described above, I recommend this dehydrator.
