JR: I have 57 Wattage motor https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B008N4QIZG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and this controller quietly reduces the speed by reducing amperage and keeping voltage same. This doesn't heat up the motor. Only caveat is my speed get reduced only at 'LO" speed at anyother level it doesn't reduce its speed. that because the controller is max 1.5A and my motor is max .57A.

Even on the very lowest setting, neither the switch nor my fans make any noise whatsoever. Both of my fans are Hunter fans that I ordered from Amazon quite recently.

The switch came with two different colored knobs; one ivory and one white. Definitely a nice touch.

For the price and performance, I am quite pleased with this purchase, and it just works.

To determine how many amps your fan consumes, find the specifications and divide the fan wattage by 120 volts. That will give you the amperage consumption. In my case it was 1/2 amp per fan.
