Michael McLeod: Purchased the first one, the one this one replaced, nine years ago. If it lasts that long I'll buy another one in nine years.

STremain - CFSTremain - CF: I've always been a fan of La Crosse, so when I needed an atomic clock, I thought I'd give this a shot. I've only had the clock 15 minutes, so I cannot attest to its accuracy or battery life. What I CAN attest to is that has an extremely SHALLOW VIEWING ANGLE. You have to be looking at the clock dead STRAIGHT ON in order to see the display. if you are off even 10 degrees you start to lose readability. The photos show the clock mounted to the wall above a doorway, and the picture was taken standing in front of the doorway. The second photo compares this clock with another brand and you can clearly see the difference. Even at this angle the other clock is clearly readable, while the La Crosse clock is not. Since you cannot control the contrast there is no way to address this, so it will be returned. Just know this if you are going to be viewing this clock at an angle, you may have issues with the limited viewing angle.

Jackbooted thug: I purchased this unit to replace one that had died after many years of use. This model is one of the less expensive units that had all the functions I wanted. (Radio controlled clock, indoor/outdoor temps, date & moon phase).
The LCD display is large enough to be read across the room. The clock & remote temperature sensor use 2 AA batteries each (no need to obtain different battery sizes for each unit. One 4 pack of batteries and you're good to go).
The radio-controlled function isn't the best receiver in the world, but it manages to capture the signal reliably enough to work. In all fairness, capturing a SW or LW radio signal from Fort Collins, CO on the east coast of the U.S.A. can be hit or miss, depending on a lot of factors. In any event, it is reliable enough.
In today's world where internet service is widespread, you may wonder why a RADIO controlled clock is even needed? The answer is a radio controlled clock is independent of the internet. OK, few of us really need the accuracy of the atomic clock at NIST in Fort Collins during our daily life but this clock is capable of receiving that time signal regardless of the status of phone lines, cable systems,...

A R: I like it. It has been couple weeks and there is no issue. I have a little doubt that both the temperature sensors are a little bit off about half or 1 degree Celsius. I wish it were a little bit brighter so you could read more clear from afar.

Astroman: I had an older model and the remote transmitter died so I bought this model. The old model received the time signal really well but the newer one fails to get the time signal when mounted in the same spot. Clearly they have cheapened the receiver. Can no longer recommend this.
