r3: These door knobs seem to be a good quality and were fairly easy to install. My exterior doors also have SmartKey locks. I used these in particular for some interior doors that I wanted locked for when I had a dog sitter I didn't know in the house while I was away. I was able to rekey these to match the exterior door key. On my exterior door, I rekey so that's the only door the dog sitter's key works in while I'm away and then I switch the exterior door back to match the rest of the house. Love the SmartKey feature and for me, well worth the money.

Cliff B.: First off, it is a well made product and the finish is very nice. But the coolest thing about this is that you can rekey it yourself! I just needed to replace one of our many door knobs. I was not looking forward to have to bring it to a locksmith and have it rekeyed to match the rest of the house. However, rekeying this was very easy. I did the the first try just following the instructions. It installs like any other door knob. This is a must for anyone who has a bunch of locks keyed the same and you only need to replace one. FYI, the rekeying process took less than a minute to do.

Karl P. Henselin: I ordered a few of these, and it was very easy to change the keys to all match. That was very nice. We also have some extra non-matching keys that we could use to switch out the front door while we are on vacation if we want to let someone else in. They are very nice looking, and seem durable.

Caveat: 1 of the few we ordered has some deep scratches on it from shipping. The latch and hardware packet must have been pressed against the side of the handle very hard in transit. I don't like the rough feeling on that part of the handle when I open the door. I thought about returning the handle to a local store for replacement, but I am not sure they will have the same one, and I like them all matching. I decided it isn't worth the replacement.

Smartkey is great, maybe 30 seconds for me to switch what key can open the door.

M. C. Payette: I bought this to replace an unsightly bright brass lever style knob on my bedroom door that the cats had learned how to open. Although the door handle had a lock, the cats would thump and bump the lever style all night long trying to get in. If I didn't lock the door behind myself, the cats would let themselves into the bedroom. I chose this knob because it better matched my decor, and I could still have the comfort of privacy in my master without the cats being able to get into the room, even when the door wasn't locked. They don't even feel compelled to reach toward the knob anymore because they literally can't do anything to it (you should have seen their agitated faces for the first couple of days after I replaced the knob with this one!).

I love the look of the knob, despite that it doesn't, however, have bronze edging as the photo shows. This knob appears all dark dark brown or black, but it's close enough to my fixtures and decor that I really don't care that much. It's also a nice broad diameter and feels good in my hand.

This door knob was pretty easy to install and the Smart Key rekey feature is deceivingly simple. I've noticed the interior side of the lock...

S. Douglas: Though I had to return it due to door issues the knob worked great. I bought this to match my Kevo lock and because I was afraid my landlord would accidentally lock the handle of my door rendering the Kevo lock obsolete. Which means I always had to carry keys anyway.

With the provided tools and working keys, I was able to easily rekey it twice. The intructions were clear and concise. Installation was a breeze.

Due to no fault of manufacturing of the knob it just wasn't compatible with the skid plate hole installed in the frame which means the door just pushed open and also with the landlord install holes already placed on my door, so there was a larger hole than it required. So sadly, even though I tried it I had to send it back.
